In this pivotal role, you'll help shape the future of LEGO™ games by developing and enhancing tools for our Fortnite Island developers and supporting a variety of internal and external clients. Leverage your extensive expertise in Unreal Engine and C++ to create extraordinary gaming experiences that inspire creativity and innovation.
Core Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly skilled tools programmer who is eager to expand the capabilities of our internal teams through advanced tools and gameplay solutions. As a vital member of the Gaming Technologies group, you’ll be integral in mentoring newer engineers and defining how we empower our teams moving forward.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Mentorship and Guidance: Provide mentorship to junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and experience to foster their growth and development within the team.
- Architecting Innovative Solutions: Collaborate with the Creator Tools team and other internal LEGO GAME teams to design and develop state-of-the-art tools for UEFN and Unreal Engine developers.
- Fostering Creativity: Utilize a playful approach to tools development, enabling creators to design the games of their dreams.
- Enhancing Delivery Pipelines: Drive improvements to our delivery pipeline across Gaming Technologies into the UEFN and Unreal Engine environments, ensuring efficiency and performance.
- Providing Technical Support: Address ad hoc issues that arise across multiple clients, including optimizing the rendering of LEGO™ bricks in Unreal.
- Exploring New Opportunities: Continuously seek innovative ways to empower teams and expand our technical capabilities.

As a relatively new team within Gaming Technologies, collaborating closely with EPIC Games, we are looking for a senior developer with deep Unreal and UEFN knowledge to help lead our technical initiatives. Our focus is on supporting various internal and external groups with UEFN and Unreal tech-stack solutions.
Do you have what it takes?
- Expert C++ Skills: with strong knowledge of UE5; APIs, reflection system, and build tools.
- Networking Expertise: In-depth understanding of networked game principles and their application in real-time creation.
- Hands-On Development: A proactive approach to both processes and hands-on development.
- Unreal Engine Mastery: Comprehensive knowledge of Unreal Engine and Perforce pipeline.
- User-Centered Mindset: A commitment to creating user-focused tools and experiences.
- Proven Track Record: Experience delivering tools for Unreal Engine, particularly in high-stakes environments.
Nice to Haves
- Familiarity with graphics programming and optimization techniques.
- Experience in platform development.
- Background in developing AA+ or AAA games using Unreal.
- Strong skills in discrete math, algorithms, and/or linear algebra.
