The opportunity
The Unity Studio Productions team is a group of highly skilled Software Developers and Technical Artists with deep expertise in the Unity platform, whose main goal is to help our customers improve their projects and internal workflows and assist them in the resolution of very challenging technical problems. To do this, we provide a series of short-term and long-term co-development services that can range in duration from one week to eighteen months and beyond.

What you'll be doing

  • Become embedded with external customer teams to develop games and game production tools.
  • Develop and maintain production workflows and pipelines by writing scripts and tools to aid artists in the creation of content.
  • Produce, integrate, and optimize assets such as particle systems, shaders, and other VFX into our customers’ games without sacrificing artistic vision or exceeding the technical limits of the platform.
  • Build close relationships with Unity's internal development teams, and provide customer feedback and production verification of future features of Unity technology and services.
  • Efficiently solve problems, communicate, and educate our clients, both remotely and on-site at their offices.
  • Proactively train yourself to remain at the forefront of Unity Engine technology and game content creation technology.
  • Visit customers for short-term consultations and give them advice on how to improve their existing content and content pipelines.

What we're looking for

  • Comprehensive knowledge of real-time content creation fundamentals (i.e., modelling, unwrapping/texturing/shading/surfacing, rigging, animation, lighting, rendering, and pipeline tool development).
  • Experience in writing and optimizing real-time shaders, visual FX, and post-processing for game rendering.
  • Professional development experience in a team context using one or more interactive content engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal, in-house).
  • Experience working with large content pipelines and writing scripts in languages such as C# or Python to automate processes and conduct data validations.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Perforce, Git, Mercurial, Unity Version Control (Plastic), etc.) in relation to game content production.
  • Experience using DCC tools such as 3ds Max, Maya, Blender, or Houdini in a professional setting.
  • Able to guide customers by clearly communicating ideas and technical knowledge via written reports.

You might also have

  • Experience with profiling tools like the Unity’s internal tools (Profiler, Frame Debugger, Memory Profiler, etc.), RenderDoc or Superluminal.
  • Experience in digital content creation using tools such as Substance 3D Designer/Painter, ZBrush, Photoshop, or Illustrator.
  • Experience using AI content creation tools in a game production environment.
  • Experience in delivering training/technical talks and writing technical articles/documentation.
