This Position reports to:

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will produce essential systems engineering deliverables and guidance for new product development and enhancement projects within the R&D team. You will collaborate closely with product managers, project managers, manufacturing support functions, and multidisciplinary design teams to translate product vision into technical system definitions, resolve cross-functional engineering challenges, and ensure solutions meet business and regulatory expectations.

The work model for the role is: hybrid (#LI-hybrid)

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Eliciting and defining unambiguous requirements for complex electro‑mechanical systems covering system, mechanical, electronics, software, chemical/process, and certification domains.
  • Generating system design documents such as P&IDs and PFDs detailing liquid/gas flow, instrumentation, chemical processes, and mechanical equipment.
  • Managing the System and Design FMEA activities end-to-end, from subsystem definition and interaction mapping to user story creation, failure mode evaluation, and criticality ranking.
  • Modelling complex systems, their interactions, requirements, use cases, and tests throughout the product development lifecycle
  • Defining system verification and validation activities, while actively participating in product build and testing.
  • Conducting technical risk analysis and risk management activities.
  • Facilitating problem identification, structured analysis, and effective resolution.
  • Ensuring that project deliverables fulfil intended technical and business requirements.

Essential qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience of systems engineering or equivalent multidisciplinary involvement in utility and industrial applications.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or equivalent, in a technical engineering discipline. Level 5 or above qualifications will be considered with relevant experience.
  • Established experience in building and sustaining SysML-based models and implementing MBSE practices on new product development projects.
  • Ability to negotiate requirements and bridge perspectives in high-profile global projects
  • Sound knowledge of electro-mechanical product design.
  • A solution-focused approach, and effective written and spoken communication skills.

Desirable qualifications:

  • Practical experience with MBSE tools such as Sparx EA
  • Exposure to low-medium volume discrete manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver creative and practical solutions with a good analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Experience with design failure mode analysis (e.g. IEC 60812) and design review (e.g. IEC 61160).
  • Experience with optical or electrochemical instrumentation for water and gas quality analysis.
