Market Oversight (MO) is responsible for overseeing primary and secondary market participants through the listing, prospectus, and market abuse regimes. Our mission is to promote conduct that supports trusted, orderly, and efficient markets.
The Market Oversight Data and Intelligence (MODI) department focuses on ensuring the provision of high-quality data and innovative technology across MO.
The role sits within the Data Engineering & Technology team (DET) that provides data engineering and technology services to MO and the wider FCA. DET comprises a team of specialists in software engineering, data science, platform management and big data.
The purpose of DET can be summarised as follows:

Deliver insight to MO & the wider FCA through exploitation of MO Datasets

Continue to be a leading Data Engineering and Science Team

Support the strategic development and ensure the smooth operation of MO’s systems which includes Data Analytics platforms and CRM solutions
What will you be doing?
As a Senior Associate in DET you will be working with one of the largest, most comprehensive wholesale market datasets in Europe. Using latest cloud and big-data technologies, you will use data engineering and science techniques to deliver insights to market surveillance analysts where you own the process from reshaping the data, all the way to analysis output or dashboard production. Your work will enhance MO’s ability to understand and proactively monitor the UK’s Wholesale Markets through the following core activities of this role:

Liaising with internal stakeholders to identify, analyse and document business requirements then working with colleagues to agree suitable solutions both new and for existing systems

Support the ongoing development of our systems analysis approach and building capability within the department

Assessing and triaging system issues, and liaising with colleagues and support teams, to address these through the full development lifecycle

Developing key relationships within the FCA and other relevant outsourced providers to facilitate effective communication of issues and enhancements affecting the CRM solutions

Working flexibly within the directorate to support overall objectives

You will have the opportunity work in an existing team with a proven delivery track record and strong reputation within the FCA.

Minimum

Proven experience of leading business/systems analysis workstreams, and personal experience of completion of analysis deliverables within Financial Services/ governmental or regulatory body

Experience of supporting change on a Salesforce based CRM solution both through BAU and project mechanisms
-
Experience of supporting business teams identify needs and translating into solutions
Essential

A proactive thinker with strong influencing skills and knowing when to act on any key issues that require escalation/support

Excellent written and verbal communication skills to assure a clear translation of business and system needs into functional outcomes

Innovative thinker, challenging existing processes and seeking innovative solutions to business problems

Understanding and experience of Data Management concepts and application of these to maintain an information set used internally and provided to the public

Experience of agile and waterfall project lifecycles within a structured environment, with exposure to working with third-party application development partners

A curious and proactive self-starter, experienced in taking the initiative working both alone, and collaborating across multiple teams, and doing so under pressure
