Role Summary and Purpose

  • The senior syndicate accountant in the team is performing monthly accounting close functions through applying accounting policies, and presents financial results to senior management.  The role is to assist the production of regulatory reporting on a UK GAAP and Solvency II basis for the Arch entities.

  • Oversea two junior team members to ensure accurate completion of general ledger and reconciliation work.  

  • Complete the preparation, review and submission of external regulatory & internal management & ‘Group’ reports

  • Completion of Lloyd’s reporting – QMA, QMB, QF1, GQD, TPD, TRIA, NAIC,  US SITUS reporting.

  • Statutory accounts and underwriting year accounts completion for S2012

  • Provides assistance, to the completion of Solvency II reporting – QSR, QAD and ASR reporting for S2012, S1955 & AIUK

  • Complete Board, Audit Committee and review papers to ensure accurate and timely regulatory reporting

  • Assist in the GAAP and STAT financial close (compile data for P&L calculations, assist in the Balance Sheet roll forward and maintenance, etc.)

  • Complete quarterly reconciliations for internal controls and SOX for S2012.

  • Work directly with auditors to ensure a successful audit completion

  • Any other duties as required

Skills / Competencies

  • knowledge of financial reporting requirements, and GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles

  • Lloyd’s & other UK regulatory reporting for specialty insurance

  • Ability to understand and apply financial reporting practices and procedures, and implement internal control processes

  • Solid understanding of month-end close process and account analysis

  • Good analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.  High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to consistently meet deadlines

  • Ability to work collaboratively with others within the department and across the Company

  • Strong knowledge of Excel including complex functions

Qualifications

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related fields and CPA or Chartered Accountant.

Experience

  •  Lloyd’s Syndicate reporting experience (Min 5 years)

  •  Post qualified experience 3 years or above.
