The Strategy team drives Depop's growth by answering critical questions and helping to identify and deliver its biggest opportunities. We're looking for someone to collaborate closely with senior leaders across the business and become a trusted partner to our Exec team. You’ll be part of a team that works together to solve complex problems and shape Depop’s strategic direction during this exciting chapter of growth.
The team’s scope can be split into four key pillars:
Strategic Planning - Shaping Depop’s vision, growth strategy and priorities in collaboration with cross-functional partners, refining them based on internal and external learnings. This takes place across time horizons including quarterly reflections, annual planning as well as Depop’s longer-term strategy.
Strategic Initiatives - Leading high-impact, cross-functional projects that are of strategic importance to the business. This may include corporate development and partnership opportunities.
Strategic Articulation - Crafting tailored communications about the business strategy for leadership, the company, and our parent company, Etsy.
Strategic Operations - Helping Depop execute its strategy more effectively through working with leaders on improving their rituals, processes, resource allocation/org design and proactively joining the dots to improve cross-functional working.
The Role
You will be building recommendations to shape the future of Depop, driving the company planning process, presenting updates to the company/leadership, owning a variety of strategic initiatives and helping the organisation to operate more effectively.
Alongside working on company-wide initiatives, each Strategy Team member is also the dedicated strategic partner to a specific member of the Exec Team. Develop strategic recommendations informed by competitor dynamics, geographic trends, user insights, and internal business performance
Partner closely with the CPO and Product org to define strategic priorities, evaluate growth opportunities, and navigate trade-offs in prioritisation
Support in managing company-wide planning, helping senior leaders focus on what matters most, balance priorities, and define success metrics
Craft clear, compelling narratives around business performance, competitive positioning, and strategic decisions, communicating them effectively to various audiences
Facilitate complex conversations, guiding senior stakeholders to a solution amidst uncertainty and differing perspectives
Lead key strategic initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact outcomes
Requirements:
Extensive experience in strategy consulting or inhouse strategy
Highly analytical with an understanding of marketplace dynamics and product-led growth strategies
Skilled at building structured presentations and communicating effectively with different audiences, including executives, board members and company-wide groups
Experience managing complex stakeholder relationships, particularly at senior levels
Proficient at Excel/Google Sheets with ability to interpret and connect a wide variety of insights (eg, product performance data, behavioral insights, financial metrics) to support decision-making on prioritisation and strategic investments
About You:
An interest in resale and a desire to be part of transforming fashion consumption
Comfort with ambiguity - you’re able to build a clear path forward in uncertain situations, driving things to completion with light-touch direction
Analytical, data-driven approach to tackling problems, balanced with a deeply customer-centric way of thinking
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly, confidently and concisely
