About the team

Dialpad’s Workforce Management team builds an integrated forecasting platform for customer support teams. This product is a key component of the Contact Center offering and focuses on forecasting, agent shift planning, real time agent management, reporting, and data pipelines.

Our teams are highly collaborative and comprise of cross-disciplinary professionals, including Product Managers, Designers, QA specialists, as well as Engineers specializing in Full-Stack Engineering, Data Engineering, Data Science and Machine Learning, and Telephony.

Your role

As the Engineering Manager of the Workforce Management team, you will lead a team of 10 full stack engineers. Your role will involve closely collaborating with other engineering managers & teams to achieve alignment & efficiency whilst delivering multiple simultaneous projects with cross-functional stakeholders. 

This position reports to our Director of Engineering in Vancouver, Canada and will be based in our London Office on a hybrid schedule. Candidates are expected to be flexible with their working hours, ensuring overlap with PST timezones for team meetings, discussions & escalations.

What you’ll do

  • You’ll have direct reports ranging from mid-level to highly experienced engineers, and will support their performance and career growth through regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Work closely with product management and senior engineers to define a 1 to 3 year roadmap & vision for the team
  • Balance the team between feature development and engineering initiatives
  • Consistently work with your direct reports to support their career growth
  • Assist in evaluating technical design & architecture documents and proposals on an ongoing basis, in anticipation of increased scale and ever-evolving technology to meet the demands of rapidly growing business needs
  • Work with geographically distributed peers including engineering managers, technical leaders, product managers, designers, support engineers and other stakeholders in order to align on engineering-wide priorities
  • Own large projects end-to-end including requirements gathering, planning, resource allocation, and sometimes execution
  • Drive effective engineering processes and policies
  • Scale the team by recruiting candidates from diverse backgrounds
  • Get hands on when necessary and assist with writing code, providing feedback on technical implementations & conducting architectural reviews

What we’re looking for (not requirements, just guidelines)

  • 2+ years experience leading a high-performing team of engineers, including managing and shipping cross-functional or multi-team projects
  • 10+ years professional experience as an engineer or engineering leader
  • Experience with the development of performant, scalable customer facing applications.
  • Hiring & interviewing skills
  • Onboarding & mentorship experience
