What you will be doing:
As a Senior Software Engineer you will be a key player in designing, building, and maintaining the server-side infrastructure that powers our applications. You will be a member of a cross-functional team, collaborate closely with teams across the entire tech organisation, mentoring junior engineers and driving best practices in software development. You will own a high level design and breakout of feature product requirements. Key Responsibilities:

Design & Architecture: Lead the design and architecture of scalable, secure, and reliable backend systems.

Development: Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code primarily in Kotlin.

API Development: Design and implement RESTful and/or gRPC APIs for internal and external consumption.

Performance Optimisation: Profile and tune backend services for performance and scalability under high loads.

Collaboration: Collaborate with frontend, DevOps, and product teams to align on project goals and timelines.

Mentorship: Mentor junior developers, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Code Reviews: Conduct and participate in code reviews to ensure quality, reliability, and performance of the codebase.
- Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Set up monitoring tools and practices (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) and troubleshoot issues in production environments.
About you
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will have:
- Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development, with a focus on building and scaling complex systems.
- Expertise in JVM based programming languages (e.g., Kotlin, Java) with Spring Framework.
- Strong understanding of microservices architecture and event-driven systems (e.g., Kafka).
- Proficiency with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP) and container orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles and familiarity with gRPC.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
- Knowledge of security best practices, including authentication, authorisation, and data protection.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound technical decisions.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with event-driven architecture (e.g., Kafka).
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, including infrastructure as code.
- Familiarity with logging and monitoring tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus).
- BSc/BA degree in computer science, engineering or related discipline OR relevant years of experience in required skills.
