We are looking for a motivated senior backend engineer to join our Platform team. In this role, you will design and build the shared services and libraries that the rest of engineering depends on every day.

Above all, this is a software engineering role. We need someone who writes clean, well-tested, production-quality code and who cares deeply about API design, reliability and performance.

Because you will be working on the platform, your work has a multiplier effect. Every improvement you ship makes every product team faster and more effective. An interest in platform concerns like CI/CD, observability and infrastructure is valuable, but strong backend engineering fundamentals are what matter most.

• Design, build and maintain shared backend services, libraries and APIs that product teams rely on for reliability, security and developer productivity.

• Write high-quality, well-tested C# code across our core service layer, setting the standard for engineering excellence.

• Own the full lifecycle of the services you build, from design through deployment, monitoring and iteration. Keep things simple and maintainable.

• Spot opportunities to improve developer experience, reduce toil and increase system resilience, and feed those into the platform roadmap.

• Collaborate with product engineers to understand their needs, guide them on architectural patterns and make sure shared services evolve to meet real-world requirements.

• Help establish best practices around testing strategies, CI/CD pipelines and observability so that the whole organisation ships with confidence.

• Strong software engineering fundamentals. You write clean, well-structured code and take pride in craftsmanship.

• Deep proficiency in a strongly typed backend language (e.g. C#, Java, Go) with the ability to deliver value quickly in C#.

• Solid experience designing and building backend services and APIs at scale.

• A track record of building robust, reliable systems with strong automated test coverage and a focus on operability.

• Familiarity with cloud environments (e.g. Azure, AWS) and modern deployment practices. Hands-on infrastructure experience (Terraform, Kubernetes) is a plus but not a requirement.

• Good instincts for API design and a keen eye for developer experience. You think about how other engineers will use what you build, recognising Platform is the Product.
