In this role, you will:
- Lead moderately complex initiatives and projects across the technology domain, including design, installation, upgrades, integration, and deployment efforts
- Identify and deliver improvements to service quality, availability, resilience, performance, and operational efficiency within the technology environment
- Design, code, test, debug, document, and implement scalable software solutions for moderately complex projects and programs, including upgrades and deployments
- Analyse complex technical challenges and medium- to high-risk deliverables, evaluate solution options, and make sound engineering recommendations
- Lead resolution of technical and production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and ensure outcomes meet established service-level, security, and compliance requirements
- Exercise independent judgment, own technical decisions within the domain, and apply secure software engineering and risk-management practices
- Provide technical guidance and code-review support to engineers, contribute to engineering standards, and communicate effectively with technology colleagues, internal partners, and stakeholders
- Significant software engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, or education.
- Advanced proficiency in Python development, including the design, testing, and maintenance of production-grade applications.
- Strong ETL and data engineering experience, including the development and optimisation of reliable data pipelines.
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, software design principles, and common design patterns.
- Strong knowledge of modern engineering practices, DevOps principles, version control systems such as Git, automated testing, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Strong understanding of relational databases and SQL, with the ability to design data models and write and optimise complex queries.
- Experience applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques to improve data pipelines, data quality monitoring, engineering productivity, or reporting processes.
- Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), including prompt engineering, evaluation, and the practical application of models to business problems.
- Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into applications and workflows using APIs, SDKs, or agent frameworks, with appropriate controls and monitoring.
- Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience delivering software within cross-functional Agile teams.
- Demonstrated ownership, sound engineering judgment, and a careful and methodical approach to design, coding, testing, and production support.
- Strong proficiency with Linux/Unix systems, command-line tools, shell scripting, and production troubleshooting.
