The role relies on excellent communication and time management skills; you’ll be working closely with other YouGov teams (Insight, Commercial and Operations) as well as directly with clients to design and deliver research which hits their brief and is clear, unbiased and stands up to scrutiny (thanks to YouGov’s amazing reputation for accuracy and media presence).

Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll do (not all of it, just the important stuff):

  • Monitoring fieldwork and swiftly resolving any issues that arise
  • Delivering results to clients and communicating effectively what the research shows, including taking clients through Crunch, our powerful online data tool
  • Reviewing materials created by clients (e.g. press releases, reports etc.) to ensure the results are accurately reported and stand up to external scrutiny
  • Working with senior researchers on larger/ high profile quantitative global projects, from inception through to delivery
  • Supporting other researchers on Insight projects across a range of sectors and specialisms
  • Working with senior researchers to maintain and grow our Omnibus and Targeted Research products
  • Developing and applying your understanding of research methods, including the principles of good questionnaire design
  • Collaborating with colleagues to quality check, design and deliver projects from start to finish
  • Supporting our Commercial Team on fast turnaround client requests. You will be looking into their queries on feasibility, helping them with quotes and assisting them with client calls or pitches
  • Personally responding to fast turnaround client requests, along with writing quotes and proposals to win new projects
  • Learning and using technical systems. This includes logging client activity, saving all records of project communications and using YouGov’s software platforms to script surveys and deliver results to our clients

These are the essentials you’ll need to get an interview:

  • Educated up to degree/ HND level in a relevant subject
  • An industry-recognised qualification is desirable (e.g. MRS Advanced Certificate in Market and Social Research Practice)
  • Quantitative research experience in a client-facing role
  • Excellent client focus and handling skills
  • Ability to deliver results, meet deadlines and manage time effectively
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Excellent written, oral and electronic communication skills
  • An understanding of statistics and quantitative analysis is desirable
  • Being self-motivating and confident

Behavioural competencies that would be great to have:

  • You are approachable and supportive

  • Accountability and ownership of your work and complex tasks
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to get your point across when dealing with all stakeholders (the team, wider colleagues and clients)
