We are looking for a talented Senior Research Executive to join our  Data Services team. This key role will draw on a mix of quantitative research, commercial/product management and people-management skills.

You will be designing, running and delivering a number of large and high-profile B2B research projects, on a whole host of topics. You will be working with senior staff on key accounts, as well as being supported by more junior researchers (across the team here in the UK and offshore) on some projects, so delegation skills are key. You will also have the opportunity to work on both domestic and specialist studies, including international projects, and get involved in Reputation projects that require added insight.

The role relies on excellent communication and quant research skills; you’ll be working closely with other YouGov teams (Insight, Commercial and operations) as well as directly with clients to design and deliver research which hits their brief and is clear, unbiased and stands up to scrutiny (thanks to YouGov’s amazing reputation for accuracy and media presence). This role may also lead to mentoring opportunities and direct management of researchers in the future. Your skills in these areas will be crucial in setting individuals up for success.

Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll do (not all of it, just the important stuff):

  • Being a research expert across our B2B omnibus offering
  • Project managing, or contributing towards, large and high-profile B2B quantitative research projects for some of our biggest clients, from inception through to delivery. This will include, but not be limited to:
  • Working directly with clients to design, or refine, questionnaires to ensure they are in line with their objectives and demonstrate best research practice
  • Monitoring fieldwork and swiftly resolving any issues that arise
  • Delivering results to clients and communicating effectively what the research shows, including taking clients through Crunch, our powerful online data tool
  • Reviewing materials created by clients (e.g. press releases, reports etc.) to ensure the results are accurately reported and stand up to external scrutiny
  • Supporting other researchers with their projects, particularly B2B and Reputation ones (e.g. advising on project set-up, quality checking questionnaires, resolving any issues etc.)
  • Working with senior researchers to maintain and grow our B2B product offering, while equipping our commercial teams and researchers with the knowledge needed to successfully sell and deliver these projects
  • Collaborating with colleagues to quality check, design and deliver projects from start to finish
  • Supporting our commercial teams on fast turnaround client requests. You will be liaising with other departments, as necessary, to look into queries on feasibility, helping with quotes and assisting with client calls or pitches to offer the most appropriate solutions to our clients.

These are the essentials you’ll need to get an interview:

  • A track record of high-quality quantitative research design and delivery, running multiple projects simultaneously from start to finish
  • Strong commercial acumen with a keen interest in business development
  • Excellent client focus and handling skills
  • Strong organisational and project management skills with outstanding attention to detail
  • Ability to deliver results to the highest standards, meet deadlines and manage time effectively

Behavioural competencies that would be great to have:

  • You are approachable and supportive
  • Priority setting – you focus on what matters to get the right things done
  • Solution focused – the ability to proactively identify change & improvements (e.g. around processes)
  • Strategic agility – you focus on the bigger picture, considering yourself, the wider YouGov teams and your clients
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to get your point across when dealing with all stakeholders (the team, wider colleagues and clients)

It would be great if you had these too, but we’ll support you if you don’t:

  • An industry-recognised qualification is desirable (e.g. MRS Advanced Certificate in Market and Social Research Practice)
