Genesis Therapeutics
Senior Research Associate/Scientist – Immunology and Inflammation
Genesis Therapeutics is a leader in AI guided rational drug design with the goal to address unmet medical needs in various indications, including oncology and immunology.
Our San Diego lab is recruiting a Senior Research Associate/Scientist with experience in cellular and molecular immunology, assay development, cell biology and/or biochemistry, with a proven interest in addressing inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.
More specifically, we are seeking a candidate to execute SAR driving workflows while in parallel supporting mechanistic studies that advance multiple targets through preclinical development. This is a hands-on, lab-based position that requires close collaboration with colleagues across multiple functions.
Educational requirements consist of an advanced degree (BS, MS, or PhD) in a relevant field, complemented by industry experience proportional to the level of education.
As an integral member of the team, you will
- Autonomously plan, design, and execute biochemical and cell-based experiments to support our I&I pipeline.
- Maintain a hands-on approach while being an open-minded, flexible team player.
- Analyze, interpret and integrate complex datasets across multiple assay types.
- Document data meticulously using ELN and state-of-the-art analyses.
- Stay at the forefront of latest research through literature review and critical evaluation of available data sources.
- Ensure team progress and success through efficient communication with team members across the organization.
Your Qualifications are
- A BSc, MSc, or PhD degree in immunology, molecular and cell biology, biochemistry or a related field, with 8+, 5+ or 2+ years of relevant industry experience, respectively.
- A meticulous and detail-oriented approach to experimental design, with full commitment to scientific rigor and creative solutions.
- A solid understanding of autoimmune and inflammatory mechanisms combined with a passion for pre-clinical drug research as evidenced by previous work experience.
- Proven experience with high-quality, immune-relevant assays for compound profiling and MOA evaluations, including but not limited to activation/proliferation assays, co-culture experiments, cytokine analysis, immune phenotyping, and ex vivo culture and functional profiling of blood.
- Robust experience with multi-color flow cytometry.
- Fluency with MSD, Luminex, or other multiplex assays for bio-analyte quantification.
- Extensive experience in general cell biology, such as isolation, growth and maintenance of cell lines and primary cells, live cell imaging, IF staining, high-content/high-throughput imaging and quantitative image analysis.
- Solid expertise in RNA workflows from isolation/quantification/QC to downstream processing (qRT-PCR, RNAseq).
- Critical understanding of assay development and validation for screening and compound progression purposes.
- A highly organized workstyle with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency with data visualization and statistical analysis using contemporary software tools is a must.
- Practical know-how with industry standard equipment like automated plate readers, liquid handlers, and robotic platforms is highly valued.
