Senior React Native Engineer

We’re looking for a Senior React Native Engineer to join our cross-functional product engineering team.

You’ll work closely with Product, Design, and Analysts to build features that enable customers to snap meals, track their progress, and understand how their diet affects their bodies.

ZOE’s React Native mobile app features include:

• Barcode scanning and AI photo logging of meals.

• Wearables integration for sleep and exercise data.

• Visualisation and tracking of health and diet data.

• Joyful animations built using Rive to make habit-building delightful.

You’ll also be an active member of our Mobile Community of Practice, connecting with engineers across the company on platform initiatives like React Native upgrades, accessibility, and automated deployments. You’ll help us find the sweet spot between fast iteration and building a high-quality, "joyful" experience for our members.

• Frontend: React Native, Expo, TypeScript

• Mobile Tools: Rive, Reanimated, RTKQuery, Redux, Scandit, Maestro, Storybook, Fastlane

• App Tools: Mixpanel, Kameeleon, AppsFlyer, Firebase, RevenueCat

• Backend: Kotlin / Spring Boot, Python / FastAPI & Django

• CI/CD: GitHub Actions

• Collaborative Building: Deeply understand our customers to build delightful and meaningful solutions, working in fast loops with product managers, designers, and analysts.

• Taming Complexity: Take ownership of ambiguous technical problems, breaking them down into manageable parts to ensure we deliver value to our members quickly and incrementally.

• Pragmatic Quality: Balance speed and quality by prioritising solutions that allow us to learn quickly while ensuring our mobile architecture remains scalable and healthy.

• Elevate the Team: Mentor and support your teammates through thoughtful code reviews and knowledge sharing, helping to shape a world-class engineering culture.

• Iterate & Ship: Ship to production frequently, working in quick iterations to learn from real user data and refine the experience.

• Have 4+ years of hands-on frontend experience, with experience in React Native or React Web.

• Are adaptable in fast-paced environments, comfortable navigating challenges and driving progress under changing conditions.

• Bring a positive and collaborative energy, building strong relationships and helping to make ZOE a joyful place to work.

• Have a pragmatic mindset, championing simple, elegant code over unnecessary complexity, and knowing when a design needs to evolve for the future.

• A passion for accessibility and design systems, ensuring our products are usable by everyone.

• Experience building animations and motion using Rive or tools such as Ski or Reanimated.

• Experience with automated E2E testing, such as Maestro, Detox, or Appium.

1. The "Meet & Greet" with Talent (45 min) First up, a deep-dive chat with one of our Talent partners. Think of this as a "look under the hood"—we’ll explore your journey so far, what gets you excited about our mission, and make sure we’re aligned on the essentials like compensation, logistics, and right-to-work.

2. The Hiring Manager "Jam Session" (45 min) Next, you’ll meet an Engineering Manager. This isn't just a tick-box exercise; it’s an intentional session where we talk shop. We’ll dive into your technical approach and behavioural experience to see how you’ll thrive in our team, while giving you a front-row seat to our engineering culture and vision.

3. The Remote Loop (The Final Stretch) We’ve grouped our final interviews into a "loop" (usually over Google Meet) to give us a 360-degree view of your brilliance. It consists of three distinct sessions:

• Live Coding (60 min): Let’s build something! We’ll collaborate on a problem to see how you think, code, and iterate in real-time.

• System Design (60 min): The "big picture" talk. We’ll chat about how you architect scalable systems and navigate those tricky technical trade-offs.

• Leadership & Values (60 min): Beyond the code. We want to hear about your collaborative style, how you lift others up, and what ZOE’s mission means to you.
