The Area: The Morningstar Indexes Team leverages its expertise in equity research, manager research, asset allocation, and portfolio construction to create innovative investment solutions. It uses Morningstar's intellectual property to create indexes that empower investors to achieve their goals at every stage of the investment process-market monitoring, benchmarking, and asset allocation. The unit offers a broad suite of global equity, bond, commodity and asset allocation indexes.
The Role: In this role, you will work as a Senior QA Automation Engineer, collaborate with technology and business team to build technology solutions for Morningstar`s Indexes applications. You should have understanding of test automation frameworks and tools. You should automate existing applications, study their enterprise complexities and develop/implement better systems with modern testing automation practices.
Responsibilities

  • Lead QA Activities across the squad.


  • Define and establish automation strategy and process


  • Understand the Indexes applications and come up with the automation testing framework


  • Should understand the requirement, design and develop the automation test cases


  • Take ownership of QA requirements and provide testing guidance to the technology team


  • Should also work as Individual Contributor


  • Lead and coordinate the application enhancement and tech ops testing activities with technology and business teams


  • Participate in team communication and collaborate in planning activities, including stand-ups, iteration planning meetings (IPM), and retrospectives.


  • Manage and communicate regular updates on project status (e.g., work completed, work in progress, next steps, risks, quality, KPIs, and costs) to stakeholders, peers, Product managers, and others.


  • Documenting all issues, while assisting in RCA and in resolution of the bugs.


Requirements - These are the most important skills, qualities, etc. that we'd like for this role.

  • 5-7 Years of working experience as an automation QA


  • Deep practical experience with cutting edge tools for Web, DB and Web-service testing (Selenium, Rest-Assured etc.)


  • Hands on in testing tools like Selenium, Rest-Assured


  • Experience in at least two of the following languages: Java, Python


  • Experience using SQL regarding writing and understanding queries


  • Hands-on current experience authoring, building and adopting large scale, cross-functional automation frameworks with well-balanced coverage across back-end integration, database levels, UI.


  • Deep understanding of different test automation approaches (keyword-driven, Data-driven, BDD, hybrid)


  • Exposure to Capital Market domain (Equity, Indexes etc.)


  • Integrate test automation into CI/CD process and instrument full SDLC automation, specifically cloud testing execution, reporting tools such as ALM, Jira


  • Improve process and quality via test and process automation: defining right strategy and technology based on process and architecture assessment by engaging different roles and stakeholders


  • Proven experience developing automated test systems and scripts beyond record and playback. Specifically developing functions, adding control flow logic, loops etc.


  • Proven understanding of white box, grey box and black box testing techniques


  • Experience with developing and testing distributed systems


  • Excellent understanding of object-oriented design principles


  • Experience of source control systems and configuration management


  • Proven ability to deliver quality results in a busy and dynamic business focused


Environment

  • Completed Bachelor's degree in Engineering


  • Good to have knowledge and working experience of Cloud Testing


  • Good to have knowledge of Agile, Scrum Master role in managing sprints and working with team members to resolve issues backlog and eliminate roadblocks.
