Role Summary

Working in a strategic growth line of business, providing BPA and Individual Annuities services to a significant Insurer with ambitious growth plans in a very fast-moving environment. Responsible for managing assigned projects from initiation to completion to meet or exceed stakeholders agreed expectations and in line with the agreed client contract. Predominantly, a client facing role working closely with an internal Project Manager, and as part of a Portfolio Delivery team. The role will report into the Head of Change Delivery, also support the Head of Commerce Finance helping to align project management controls with ongoing commercial budget and forecasting processes.

Core Duties/Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Ensuring that large scale projects are managed in line with the project management framework, and commercial processes, to deliver to agreed quality, scope, time, budget and commercial terms.
    • Defining viable project objectives, scope and deliverables.
    • Applying project lifecycle, methodology and processes effectively.
    • Identifying and quantifying project risks and mitigating actions
    • Managing allocated resources.
    • Adhering to agreed reporting and governance frameworks.
    • Completing post project reviews and documenting lessons learned.
  • Work with BA’s and project teams to ensure coherent design and delivery.
  • Preparation and maintenance of project documentation.
  • Production of resource schedules and project billing forecasts.
  • Ensuring accurate time recording and Financial Reporting, as well as supporting to align project management controls with ongoing commercial budget and forecasting processes
  • Management of project team communications and interfaces with client teams.
  • Effective internal and external stakeholder engagement and management.
  • Management of Change Control authorisation process.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of the project management framework, processes and standards.
  • Coaching and mentoring junior team members.

Skills, Capabilities and Attributes

Essential

  • Track record of delivering to quality, scope, time, budget and commercial terms
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Resilience to cope with the pressure of enterprise wide implementation projects with a lifecycle of 6 to 12 months.
  • Good analytical, numerical and logic skills.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Prior experience of managing projects within the Financial Services or Pensions industry.
  • Pensions and individual annuities knowledge, preferably with Life & Pensions industry
  • Strong client facing and relationship management skills
  • Previous experience of coaching and mentoring junior team members
