ABOUT FUGA

FUGA provides forward-thinking music distribution, technology, and marketing services to forward-thinking music companies. Working at the heart of the music industry with more than 800 clients, including Hospital Records, Epitaph, and Beggars Group, FUGA is the world’s leading full-service B2B music distributor. FUGA works at the forefront of music distribution technology, connecting its clients with digital service providers like Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music while helping them get the most from their music, whether that’s with award-nominated label services, industry-leading revenue accounting, or using FUGA’s suite of best-in-class products.

The Opportunity

FUGA is a leading technical partner for the independent music industry. We support the world’s most important labels and distributors with a complete digital suite, from content ingestion to complex royalty reporting.

As a Product Manager for Royalty Accounting, you will lead the development of our financial engine. You will handle the heavy lifting of the music industry by transforming large streams of usage data into accurate, clear, and timely payments for creators around the world.

What You’ll Do

  • Vision & Roadmap: Define and communicate a clear vision for the Royalty Accounting product/service offering. This aligns with FUGA’s broader goal of seamless platform integration and efficient global payments.
  • Problem Discovery: Investigate customer and internal stakeholder pain points through ongoing research. Frame complex financial or operational issues for the team and break them down into manageable rollout plans.
  • Split Management Engine: Design and scale a sophisticated "Splits" infrastructure to automate revenue sharing across multiple stakeholders (artists, producers, labels), supporting various business models and dynamic ownership changes.
  • Contract-to-Code Translation: Translate diverse, complex legal agreements - covering rights, tiered rates, territories, and recoupable deductions - into clear, actionable requirements and functional specifications for engineering.
  • Audit Readiness & Data Integrity: Ensure all royalty processes and ledgers are fully auditable, accurate, and secure. Maintain a "source of truth" by rigorously validating both incoming sales data and outgoing royalty calculations.
  • Data Matching & Accuracy: Oversee the ingestion of high-volume usage data from global DSPs. Drive high standards in metadata matching to identify discrepancies and ensure precise income tracking across all revenue streams.
  • Agile Leadership: Manage the product backlog daily, prioritizing strictly to ensure the delivery of valuable features and calculation engine enhancements in a timely, iterative manner.
  • Stakeholder Sync: Communicate effectively across the organization - from presenting high-level strategic roadmaps to executives to providing detailed release notes and technical sprint updates for development teams.
  • Validation & Quality: Establish quantitative KPIs to track product success and financial accuracy. Lead the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) process to guarantee that all financial outputs and statements are 100% reliable.

What You Bring

  • Experience: Over 5 years in Product Management, with a focus on large-scale financial or transactional data. Experience in music, streaming, or subscription-based areas is a significant plus.
  • Analytical Acumen: Your strong numerical fluency is evident in your deep analytical skills. You consistently leverage data-driven analysis, excelling particularly in complex Excel calculations and financial algorithm comprehension.
  • Technical Literacy: You understand the structure of complex web applications and cloud infrastructure. You can engage in discussions about API scalability or data retention.
  • Agile Mastery: You have expert knowledge of Scrum methodologies and tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • The "Bridge" Mindset: You can interpret complex business requirements and translate them into clear Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) and thorough testing plans.
