As a Senior Product Designer, you deliver value from ideation to implementation. You have a strong understanding of branding, Lean design practices and UX. You have a meticulous eye for detail, with the ability to visualise and communicate the ‘big picture’ product vision. You are able to draw on your experience and knowledge of best practices to create innovative digital solutions. You are pragmatic, and understand the need to balance business requirements with design excellence to achieve our clients’ goals.
You are a people person. As a trusted consultant and experienced designer, you develop a rapport with your clients and help them through the product development process. You are an integral part of the product team at Red Badger, and work in client-facing cross-functional teams building digital products. You work closely with your team to be a champion of user needs, brand and the product vision so your team can deliver the right thing in the right way. You take great pride in creating innovative products. You mentor more junior members of the design guild and are actively involved in cultivating Red Badger design principles.
You are a great storyteller and a communicator. You can facilitate workshops confidently and plan discovery and innovation activities. You know the importance of an outcome-focused mindset, and use your craft to produce designs at various levels of fidelity to bring the vision to life. You are comfortable working closely with Product and Technology teams to build the thing right, iterating fast and often.
The Senior Product Designer will focus on:
- Successfully delivering client outcomes within a cross-functional team
- Consulting with client stakeholders to execute their product and design strategy
- Evangelising Human-Centred Design, Design Thinking, Lean and Agile methodologies to deliver quality digital products
- Supporting the growth of more junior product designers, and Red Badgers’ expertise
Discipline expertise
- Lead product discovery and design sessions with client and users
- Create and implement the design strategy, from discovery through to delivery
- Focus on end-user needs to deliver products with impact
- Create compelling prototypes to test with end-users and share with stakeholders throughout the product life cycle, using feedback and learnings to iterate.
- Work on design and front-end implementation within a cross-disciplinary team, through creation of design systems, style guides, prototypes and other assets to bring product ideas to life
- Design and facilitate workshops and design sprints
- Experiment and make data-driven decisions for your designs, using Agile/Lean methodologies
- Drive continuous improvement and quality by championing design principles and the value they bring
- Engage clients and your team to ensure the proposed design balances business goals and technical constraints in addition to user needs

- Contribute to the development of the product design discipline within Red Badger
- Support the development of Red Badger’s design approach and strategy
- Proactively share knowledge with the rest of the Product team, and help to foster a culture of valuable design critique

- Experience working in lean/agile methodologies, such as Scrum and Kanban
- Working knowledge of industry-standard tools, such as Figma, plus aptitude to learn and introduce new tools and methodologies
- Led product design implementation as part of a cross functional team or programme working closely with engineers, data insights, user researcher and quality assurance disciplines
- Experience leading design activities on a project, presenting design concepts to stakeholders and running workshops

You will shape a living design system that functions as core product infrastructure, enabling speed, consistency, and confident decision-making across a number of teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Defining the system from the ground up Lead the creation of the foundational design system during discovery, aligning product strategy, brand, and UX principles into a cohesive system architecture.
- System-first thinking at scale Design and govern a system that accelerates delivery while maintaining visual and interaction consistency across platforms and products.
- Translation of parent brand into sub-brand system Stylistic evolution of the overarching financial brand into a visual language and approach for the new product and business unit
- Token-driven architecture Work within a token-first approach, partnering closely with engineering to ensure seamless translation between Figma, Tailwindcss, and production code, with white-labelling capabilities built in from day one.
- Single source of truth Collaborate on the development of a component library in Storybook, ensuring design intent, usage guidelines, and accessibility standards are clearly documented and maintained.
- Accessibility by default Embed WCAG 2.2 AA compliance into system foundations, ensuring the product is inclusive, future-proof, and ready for multi-platform growth.
