About us:

Access Partnership is the frontier consultancy getting innovation into market faster across technology, AI, Space and Health. With over 150 experts across six continents, we help clients in government, private sector and industry navigate complex regulatory, policy and communications challenges for the benefit of society.

Complex problems don't sit in silos and neither do we. Delivering frontier innovation into market takes a team of specialists that get you from concept to diffusion. Our architects of innovation - from strategists, economists, engineers, physicians to lawyers - work as one team to deliver technology into market for the benefit of society.

The Role

You will join our Strategic Communications team, working directly with the Associate Director, and senior leadership across the business, to deliver communications programmes for a growing set of international clients. You will also have opportunities to work across broader marketing activity, contributing to integrated campaigns, content, events and other firm-wide initiatives.

This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on media relations, writing and the day-to-day delivery of client accounts. You will take ownership of press outreach and the day-to-day management of your workflow, with opportunities to build your experience in campaign planning, client counsel and issues management.

The role is predominantly focused on client work, with opportunities to contribute to Access Partnership’s own communications and profile.

What you can expect to be doing:

You will own day-to-day media outreach across client accounts, including building targeted media lists, pitching stories, managing follow-up and securing coverage.

  • Draft press releases, media pitches, statements, briefing notes, Q&As, opinion pieces and other client-ready materials.

  • Monitor the news agenda and identify timely opportunities for clients to contribute to relevant media conversations.

  • Work flexibly across PR and broader marketing activity where required, supporting integrated campaigns, content, events and other marcomms initiatives.

  • Act as a reliable day-to-day contact for clients, providing clear updates and keeping activity, actions and deadlines on track.

  • Develop a strong understanding of each client’s business, sector and communications priorities, using this knowledge to make outreach more relevant and effective.

  • Support crisis and issues communications, including rapid-response drafting, holding statements, reactive lines, media monitoring and stakeholder updates during live situations.

  • Track coverage, sentiment, share of voice and competitor activity, turning the findings into concise and useful client reporting.

  • Support the Associate Director on account planning, campaign development, editorial calendars, spokesperson preparation, messaging and stakeholder mapping.

  • Work with specialists from across Access Partnership to turn complex technology, policy and regulatory issues into clear and compelling communications.

  • Contribute to Access Partnership’s own media relations, thought leadership and event communications where required.

What you will bring:

Essential

  • A track record of independently pitching journalists and securing coverage in national, business, technology or specialist trade media.

  • Strong news judgement and an understanding of what makes a story relevant to journalists and their audiences.

  • Excellent writing skills, with the ability to produce clean, engaging copy under time pressure and adapt your style for corporate, commercial and consumer audiences.

  • The confidence to communicate directly with clients and journalists, while recognising when senior input is needed.

  • Strong AI literacy, including the ability to use AI tools thoughtfully and effectively while applying sound judgement to accuracy, quality, confidentiality and appropriate use.

  • The ability to manage your own workflow across multiple client accounts, balancing competing priorities without losing attention to detail.

  • A proactive and collaborative approach, with the confidence to take ownership of tasks and keep work moving.

  • A genuine interest in frontier technology and the commercial, political and societal forces shaping emerging sectors.

  • An appetite to learn, take on greater responsibility and develop towards an account-management and advisory role.

  • Two to four years’ experience in a PR agency, in-house communications team or newsroom, with demonstrable media-relations experience.

Desirable

  • Previous agency experience.

  • Existing relationships with UK or European technology, business or trade journalists.

  • Exposure to crisis or issues communications in an agency, in-house or newsroom setting.

  • Experience supporting international clients or coordinating activity across different markets and time zones.

  • Experience using media-monitoring tools and translating results into meaningful client reporting.

  • A second language, particularly one relevant to European, Southeast Asian or Middle Eastern markets.

What We Offer:

Our diverse international client base of technology giants and start-ups will provide the opportunity to work on multiple international projects on behalf of some of the industry’s leading companies. Our firm boasts a collaborative working environment, social events and a robust support system. We are committed to providing training and professional development for all colleagues.
