Senior Platform Engineer

Location: London, the UK - Hybrid (3 days from the office)

Senior Engineers drive implementation within the Platform Engineering group, and these roles typically focus on one area of Platform expertise. Deliveroo is growing rapidly and our global infrastructure critically underpins this growth. Having a security, stable, highly available and performant cloud environment is a key focus for this role.

As a Senior Platform Engineer at Deliveroo, your individual work contributes to achieving cross-team goals and metrics. Occasionally you will lead work outside of the direct remit of your team benefitting other teams.

• Responsible for the end-to-end delivery of projects within the Platform space

• Designs solutions for projects on behalf of their team, including writing technical documentation

• Contributes to project planning, foreseeing dependencies and risks. Constructively partners with other disciplines to de-risk delivery (e.g. Product, Experience)

• Works with their team and adjacent teams (when relevant) to deliver projects and solve problems

• Leads the work of other engineers, breaks down projects and guides design and implementation choices

We want to emphasise that we don't expect you to meet all of the below but would love you to have experience in some of these areas.

• Pride in readable, well-designed, well-tested solutions

• Ability to take a lead on the direction for a technical area in the platform space (eg. Containers, Kafka, Networking)

• Extensive experience with infrastructure tooling, ideally Terraform

• A strong background in software engineering, preferably with Go and/or Python

• Proven leadership skills, including coaching, team-building and generally supporting peers and colleagues

• Proven ability to define and run projects from inception to delivery

• Proven ability to coordinate technical projects across multiple teams

• Proven system design experience

• Extensive experience with AWS cloud computing

• Experience with datastores, ideally PostgreSQL, DynamoDB and/or Redis

• Experience of working closely and building relationships with customer engineering groups
