MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:
- Deep understanding of core AWS cloud services including networking, storage solutions, load balancing, containers, messaging, serverless architectures, and monitoring/logging.
- Deploying and supporting production Kubernetes(EKS) clusters through their growth
- Strong knowledge of Linux-based systems (RHEL/Debian-based)
- Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure leveraging Terraform
- Growing our configuration management codebase with Ansible
- Experience triaging Production issues in either a financial or Internet-facing deployments
- Collaborating cross-functionally with development, trading teams, and other internal stakeholders to understand custom requirements and translate custom solutions into infrastructure solutions.
- Maintains and strives for a high level of quality and best practices, but understands when to make pragmatic, good-enough decisions.
SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES (e. g. shifts, travel overseas, hours):
- Some weekend and on-call work will also be necessary
- Overseas travel may be required on occasion for team gatherings

WORK EXPERIENCE/BACKGROUND:

- Track record of successful end-to-end project delivery from conception to production deployment.
- Experience collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams including developers, business stakeholders, and senior management.
- Triaging production issues under pressure
- Proven experience delivering robust, highly available platforms for financial trading or major internet-facing applications.
- Worked in hybrid environments (AWS and on prem infrastructure)
- Experience of working in a financial background
TECHNICAL SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

- A great understanding of most of the core AWS services.
- Building and using containers in production
- Understands the core concepts around how a applications communicate when using service meshes
- Strong skills in automation, configuration management, and infrastructure as code.
- Great written and oral communication skills.
- Strong with both Cloud and On-prem infrastructure (physical servers, BIOS, RAID arrays, NICs)
- Understanding the feature sets of the newer AWS services
- A security-mindset with a sane balance of wide-open vs overly conservative
