Overview of the Role

We're looking for an experienced and commercially focused Senior People Partner to play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering our people strategy across a large, operationally intensive and highly unionised business.

As a trusted advisor to senior leaders, you'll influence business performance through strategic workforce planning, organisational development, industrial relations leadership and organisational change. You'll help ensure we have the talent, capability and culture needed to achieve our ambitions while supporting complex business activities including transformation programmes, franchise bids, acquisitions and mobilisation projects.

This is a high-profile leadership role that offers the opportunity to work at the heart of the business, partnering with operational and functional leaders to drive organisational success, enhance colleague experience and deliver sustainable business outcomes.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Partnering with senior leaders to develop and deliver strategic people plans that support business performance and long-term success.
  • Providing expert advice, challenge and coaching to leaders on organisational, workforce and people-related matters.
  • Leading complex employee relations cases and ensuring pragmatic, commercially balanced and legally compliant outcomes.
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with recognised trade unions and employee representative groups.
  • Leading collective bargaining, consultation exercises and industrial relations activity across the business.
  • Driving organisational design, restructuring and workforce transformation programmes.
  • Providing expert leadership on TUPE transfers, acquisitions, outsourcing arrangements and business integration projects.
  • Supporting franchise bids, contract tenders, mobilisations and business growth opportunities through workforce planning and people risk assessment.
  • Ensuring organisational readiness for changes in employment legislation and evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Using workforce data and insights to identify trends, manage risk and support strategic decision-making.
  • Driving talent, succession and workforce planning initiatives to strengthen future organisational capability.
  • Championing colleague engagement, inclusion and wellbeing, helping to create a culture where people can thrive.

What You'll Need

  • Significant experience operating as a Senior HR Business Partner, Senior People Partner or equivalent strategic HR leadership role within a large and complex organisation.
  • Extensive experience working in a unionised environment, including leading industrial relations activity, collective bargaining and consultation processes.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation, including TUPE, collective employment law and employment law reform.
  • A proven track record of leading organisational change, restructures, workforce transformation and business integration activities.
  • The ability to influence, coach and challenge senior leaders and executive stakeholders with confidence and credibility.
  • Strong commercial acumen and an ability to balance operational performance, employee experience and business risk.
  • Experience using workforce analytics and people data to inform strategic decisions and improve business outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • CIPD Level 7 qualified and Chartered MCIPD (or equivalent experience). Additional qualifications in employment law, industrial relations or mediation would be advantageous.
  • Experience within transport, logistics, manufacturing, utilities or another operationally intensive and regulated environment would be beneficial.

At Stagecoach, you'll be part of a business that values doing the right thing, supporting communities, planning for the future and being stronger together. If you're a strategic people leader who thrives in complex environments and enjoys making a real commercial impact, we'd love to hear from you.

Stagecoach is proudly an inclusive employer, striving for a culture where everyone can be themselves and where all the differences people bring are truly appreciated. We welcome applications from all, irrespective of gender, ethnicity, race, religion, beliefs, disability, neurodiversity, sexual orientation, or age.
