We’re seeking a detail-oriented, proactive, and highly organized Compliance Specialist to join our People & Places team. This role is pivotal in safeguarding our People and Places team’s compliance with employment legislation and internal governance standards. You’ll act as the guardian of our compliance framework, ensuring that policies, documentation, and processes are accurate, current, and accessible. Your work will directly reduce risk exposure and strengthen trust across the business.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Compliance Discovery & Risk Management: Collaborate with internal Risk, Audit, and Compliance teams to conduct a comprehensive discovery of the People & Places function, moving beyond repetitive audits and self-assessments. Identify risks, audits, policies, controls, and mitigation strategies for each sub-team. Working in partnership with the internal compliance team to coordinate activity across the People and Places team.
  • Governance & Assurance Framework: Create and maintain a robust governance, assurance, and evidence mechanism that includes ownership details, timelines, and relevant content. Ensure the SPPP (Strategy, policy, process and procedure) framework for the People team remains current, compliant, and accurate at all times.
  • System Oversight: Oversee updates in iGrafx and AuditBoard in coordination with sub-team leads, ensuring compliance data integrity and timely updates.
  • Culture of Compliance: Embed compliance as a core value across the People & Places function, challenging existing practices and ensuring solutions are risk-based and proportionate.
  • Policy Review: Work closely with document owners to provide a second-level review of all People policies to ensure compliance with licensing and legislative requirements.
  • Mandatory Training Strategy: Conduct a comprehensive review of all mandatory training programs, assessing user-friendliness, alignment with purpose, frequency, and delivery methods.

o Collaborate with internal stakeholders and the LMS provider to evaluate delivery options and explore cost-effective alternatives.

o Develop a mandatory training policy limiting annual mandatory training to 10 hours.

o Redesign training to embed real competence, not just completion, with rollout planned for 2027.

o Encourage content owners to seek alternative approaches before designating content as mandatory.

  • Continuous Improvement: Recommend and implement process improvements to strengthen compliance, reduce risk exposure, and improve efficiency.

We are Allwyn UK, part of the Allwyn Entertainment Group – a multi-national lottery operator with a market-leading presence across Europe which includes: Czech Republic, Austria, Greece, Cyprus & Italy.

While the main contribution of The National Lottery to society is through the funds to good causes, at Allwyn we put our purpose and values at the heart of everything we do.  Join us as we embark on a once-in-a-lifetime, largescale transformation journey by creating a National Lottery that delivers more money to good causes.

‍We’ve developed ground-breaking technologies, built player protection frameworks, and have a proven track record of making lotteries better.

  • Innovation - We pride ourselves on it! We’re constantly looking for new ways to excite our customers, bringing new products to enjoy which is all underpinned by our responsible play values and making them accessible to all.
  • Giving back – Did you know that playing the lottery generates around £30m a week for charities and good causes in the UK? Our aim is to have doubled this number by the end of the first 10-year licence
  • Sustainability – Our aim to be net zero by 2030 which would make us the first lottery provider globally to achieve this
  • Inclusion and accessibility – We are making all parts of The National Lottery inclusive – whether you play a game in a store or online.

We want to create one of the UK’s most inclusive organisations – where people can bring the best of themselves, to do their best work, every day, for the benefit of good causes.
