Overview of the Role
Reporting to the Team Leader or the Regional Head of Metals operations, this person will be part of the Global Metals operations team. The trading desk is active across a variety of products spanning from Concentrates, to Refined metals, to Warrants and Precious metals. The Metals Ops teams are responsible for all Physical Deliveries across the Globe. The successful candidate will ensure that scheduling and day-to-day operations are running smoothly and that any problems are flagged at an early stage to mitigate any potential risks.
Main Responsibilities

Acts as a reliable point of contact for routine internal and external inquiries on the desk.

Maintain close communications with counterparties, vaults & warehouses, PM refineries and the transporters.

Handle as needed but also escalate when appropriate. Inform traders and customers of problems and issues risen from fulfilment of contracts concluded with them.

Maintain close communications with the Junior and Senior members of the team, traders and the Management.

Be the go-to Precious Metals Ops contact for internal teams and ensure smooth cooperation amongst departments which will allow operations to deliver. Be proactive and offer creative solutions to trading team.

Optimize trading strategies by utilizing knowledge of product movement and relationships with external parties, especially the vaults, the PM refineries and the transporters.

Take ownership of issues, intermediate between customers, warehouses and freight forwarders until the issues are solved.

Provide mentorship and support to junior team members, guiding their professional growth and ensuring their continuous learning and development..

Serves as a point of contact for internal or external inquiries. Participate in regular team meetings helping to ensure that any operational issues are addressed and resolved. Provide team coverage as workload's demand.

Ability and willingness to operate across a variety of products and geographic locations.

Report required information from Operations processes, to Team Leader or Regional Head of Operations, as part of core activities, on a frequent basis as per requirements.

Complete any other ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the Team Leader or Regional Head of Operations.

Knowledge of cargo shipment procedures, customs exportation/importation procedures, environmental reporting when necessary, policies & industry standards, shipment regulations and maritime technical terminology, as well as relevant transport laws and the impact on cargo movement operations.

Experienced CME/LBMA/LPPM markets. Solid understanding of taking/making deliveries from/into exchange vaults. Familiar with the precious metals futures contracts and their respective settlement procedures.

Proficient in bullion distribution, handling and transportation of grains/fine powder/dore.

Experienced in trade recaps review, confirmations, contract review and execution.

Understanding of both allocated and unallocated business, warrants and physical specs.

Proven analytical mindset with regard to product movement reconciliation, vault audits and insurance matters.

Maintain an accurate and up to date account of storage positions, product movement positions, review all accruals in the system, insuring proper costs have been booked against each trade / strategy or storage facility.

Reconciliation of month end inventory explaining/correcting any differences accordingly. Communicate and work closely with traders on forward inventory projections.

Designs and documents written procedures, where necessary or requested by Management.

Highlights where current procedures are not up to date; or where new processes & procedures are required, particularly (though not exclusively) with a focus on demands of own Team, Country or Region. Escalates fully formed ideas, concepts, requirements and/ or solutions to RoM for consideration and potential development.
Profile
The individual should have the following experience:

6 - 8 years of Precious Metals (knowledge of handling metals/minerals will be ideal)

Knowledge of more than one product is essential, with deep understanding of the products’ grade specifications, vaulting, inspection procedures and product regulatory compliance.

Understanding of secure transport operations, both airfreight and containerized multimodal.

Pro-active and able to take initiative to complete tasks

Maintain a positive work environment within the team.

Fluent English written and oral skills

Willingness to learn to operate more than one metals products
-
Experience in warrants is desirable.

Keen to work with junior members of the team and help to develop a talent bench.
