We’re looking for a Senior Media Insight Lead who expects more from their career. You’ll focus on delivering complex, cross-functional initatives that are key to the success of our long term strategy. From digital transformation to operational excellence you’ll implement measurable, sustainable solutions driving value and our ability to scale.

You are passionate about understanding customer-first data, collating insights that can be leveraged by brands and agencies to create compelling and relevant marketing communications. You will be working with a market leading retailer to drive growth, focusing on business development across Media Agencies, Non-Endemic brands (those not sold by Tesco)  and Growing and Emerging CPG clients.

This new role provides the opportunity to harness your excellent insight skills in a role that requires a commercial mindset and the ability to see things from the perspective of a planner, a brand, an agency and a customer. Your insights will underpin and influence actionable media deliverables that unlock new opportunities and drive growth in the Tesco Retail Media UK planning, strategy and sales teams.

You will be a highly motivated Insights specialist with a high degree of commercial acumen and the ability to confidently face into clients as the voice of the customer, as well as lead and manage new project streams to continue to drive forward our media insight capabilities.

You will have capability to partner with the Strategy team to develop and drive thought leadership representative of the ambitions of Tesco Media into Media Agencies and with confidence and flair, and the curiosity to research beyond our internal parameters to bring new thinking to drive growth.

What you’ll be working on 

  • Collaborate with the Heads of Agency, Non-Endemic and Growing & Emerging on identification of specific growth opportunities by discipline and individual client, aligning shared KPI’s for the measurement of this growth.
  • Shared ownership of mid-top tier strategic relationships across your area, acting as the representative of the insight for media function alongside strategists, planners, sales & account teams.
  • Responsible for managing the sourcing, collation and presentation of internal customer data and external market data in a relevant and compelling way to direct the media output.
  • Ability to confidently articulate the ‘so what’ from the customer data, crafting insights to underpin the campaign narrative.
  • Delivery of strategic, insight-led client initiatives & projects, outside of just responses to media briefs for example thought pieces like white papers, seminars, webinars and conferences.
  • Supporting and empowering the wider media teams with regular insights downloads and market insights, trends and analysis – as well as creation of external facing thought leadership topics.
  • Responsible for ensuring customer data led approach is at the heart of our plans through training and support across the total Tesco team.
  • Consultative support to media planners and clients requiring insight to media actions
  • Identify new opportunities working collaboratively with Research, ADS, Insight and other capabilities.
  • Manage project workstreams with said capabilities to continue to drive forward and evolve our media insight capabilities and offerings.
  • Use experience and expertise to support & develop the insight skillset of the wider media insight team.

What we expect from you

  • Successful track record of working in a media/consumer insight environment.
  • Experience of working in or with a Media Agency is highly preferred.
  • Experience working in a Retail/Retail Media company is highly preferred.
  • Understanding how the use of insights powers recommendations.
  • Technical skills – use of Data and BI tools.
  • Analytical and problem solving.
  • Basic analytical & statistical techniques (calculate key shopping metrics, distributions, percentages, averages).
  • Identify the right methodology/ approach and data to use to derive insights that support the business objective/ question.
  • Data visualization & story telling.
  • Stakeholder management & communication skills (ability to work closely with stakeholders to understand the business problem/objective/ question & clearly communicate the findings).
  • Understanding of & follow data compliance/GDPR.
  • Commercial mindset.
  • SQL / Python a plus.
