Senior Market Analyst (LR08)

Location: Crawley  

As a Market Analyst at Thales, you will play a vital role in supporting business needs through comprehensive market analysis and competitive insights. You have an understandin across air, land, maritime, and digital sectors, with a strong focus on business development activities. You will be conducting analyses for value propositions, partnership evaluations, and pricing strategies, particularly for major prospects.

This role comes with exciting opportunities to engage with a promising pipeline, including various training programs and emerging markets. The analyst team fosters career growth through defined competencies and development programs, while promoting collaboration both within the UK and internationally. The team is recognized for its commitment to best practices in analysis and a supportive environment that encourages professional development.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support to business winning activity, to include daily tracking of relevant contract notices and distribution to Sales team in a timely manner
  • Analysis of data to provide synthesis of key market characteristics & competitor profiling:
  • Market:  Construction of basic forecast models (e.g. aircraft platforms) to provide insight on market size, profile, geography and timescales.  Generating market analysis from these forecast models to provide input to PLMs in support of business case decision reviews.
  • Competitor: capabilities, product offerings, pricing datapoint research; potential partner organisation identification.
  • Supporting the UK Strategy & Marketing Plaza business intelligence system on a daily basis by screening & uploading news articles, reports & analyses etc ensuring that they do not contain any information above 'Thales Group Internal' or any classified or company sensitive material.
  • Responsibilities may also include providing support to the main system administrator, covering:
  • Providing usage reports, as required
  • Co-ordinating training for users
  • Supporting the strategic business planning process and MoD key account managers by providing supporting analysis to inform market trends & drivers, market sizing and competitive intensity
  • Stays appraised of key competitor marketing messages and proactively shares these with Comms. and the Strategy & Marketing Sector leads to improve Thales' product positioning

About You:

  • Knowledge of all Defence domains and digital markets
  • Ability to capture customer needs from primary & secondary sources and to synthesise this to support decision making on Thales' product positioning
  • Driven to build personal network within the business to facilitate sharing and codification of market intelligence
  • Experience in working to deadlines, managing multiple tasks at once
  • Able to build Excel data sets for subsequent manipulation and has a basic grasp of formulas, enabling interpretation of business case or forecast models
  • Understanding of company financial data, financial ratios and general business case principles
  • Able to locate and summarise company financial data
  • Proficient in desk research-based techniques

Due to the nature of the work that we do at Thales, many of our roles are subject to security restrictions. This role requires you to be a UK National and achieve Security Clearance (SC) without any caveats. It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance prior to commencing employment. If approved by the MOD, a dual national from a Non-ITAR country may be considered. Please visit the UKSV website for further guidance. To be eligible for full SC, you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years. In some circumstances, a minimum of 3 years’ residence in the UK over the last 5 years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks
