About the team

The Device Monitisation and Experience team at Roku focuses on building user-friendly, innovative features that enhance the streaming experience for millions of customers worldwide. This team plays a critical role in developing and optimizing UI components and monetization solutions, driving revenue growth through engaging user interfaces, seamless advertising integrations, and scalable, consumer-focused technologies. By collaborating closely with cross-functional partners, the team ensures that Roku continues to deliver intuitive, high-quality products that set the standard in the streaming industry.


About the role 

We are growing our engineering footprint in the UK and other locations around the world, we are looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead the architecture, development and software roadmap of our UI and monetization engineering team.  We are seeking a problem solver, who loves taking on new challenges, learns quickly/eagerly, is concise and articulate.  Someone who can collaborate effortlessly with global teams, make tough decisions without hesitation and challenge existing norms to achieve exceptional results.  If you are passionate about building innovative, simple and intuitive-to-use OS features for consumer facing products to 100M+ customers, we would love to hear from you.


What you’ll be doing

  • Lead engineering team to effectively execute product roadmaps and produce quality deliverables.
  • Recruit and retain top-notch technical talents and grow the teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional peers (i.e., product, design, marketing, etc.) and have strategic influence to shape product vision.
  • Guide architecture design and solve complex technical challenges as a hands-on leader.
  • Drive release process, evangelize agile best practices and promote innovation.
  • Providing coaching, mentoring and support to the direct-reports in both technical and non-technical matters. 
  • Interacting internally and externally with multiple levels of the organization, from individual contributors to Executive Team.  
  • Ensure the team adheres to best practices in software development, code quality, testing, and deployment while maintaining high productivity among team members

 

We’re excited if you have  

  • Strong People management experience in building and leading geographically distributed engineering teams. 
  • A high degree of integrity, accountability, attention to detail, planning expertise, and execution.  
  • MS in Computer Science, or a related degree.
  • Hands-on experience in developing large-scale customer facing applications. 
  • Experience in SDK, UI frameworks, API design and development.
  • The ability to work through ambiguous requirements, demonstrate strong judgement regarding technical solutions and make key decisions to make progress
  • Demonstrated experience in technical recruiting and building teams from the ground up.
  • Strong organisational, planning and time management skills.
  • Prior experience of developing Consumer Electronics products is highly desirable.
