Role summary

This senior manager role sits within Group Risk and provides Second Line of Defence oversight across non-financial, financial and strategic risks across the Data & Analytics (D&A) division and Group operations. The role provides coverage of commercial and operations functions, supporting end-to-end order to cash processes (pricing execution, contracting, order management, fulfilment and billing), across business-as-usual operations, change and transformation activity, and emerging strategic risks as the business evolves.

You’ll partner closely with Commercial, Operations, Finance, Technology and Product teams to help identify and articulate risk, support risk-based decision-making, and drive practical improvements to controls and governance. This role requires excellent judgement and the ability to influence senior stakeholders. Operating credibly in ambiguous and evolving risk areas, you'll help the business to navigate uncertainty, trade‑offs and risk‑based decision‑making rather than relying solely on prescriptive controls.

Based in London, the role reports to the Director – Head of Commercial, Strategy and Business Change Risk.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading Second Line oversight of business‑as‑usual risks, transformation programmes, process redesign, system changes and new commercial initiatives across commercial, customer and order management processes, including pricing execution, contract lifecycle, and order‑to‑cash execution.

  • Identifying, assessing and articulating strategic, operational and execution risks.

  • Building partnerships across the divisions and wider organisation to embed risk considerations into design, decision‑making and execution, not just assurance activity.

  • Conducting risk deep-dives where appropriate and working autonomously to consider required focus areas over the coverage remit.

  • Applying operational resilience principles to support effective response to disruption, analysing incidents, operational losses and customer impacts to provide insightful risk insights and supporting a posture of end to end resilience.

  • Supporting and challenging the First Line in the delivery of Risk and Control Assessments (RCAs), ensuring risks are clearly articulated, controls are meaningful and risks outside appetite have clear, credible remediation plans.

  • Preparing concise, high‑impact material for risk committees, senior leadership and governance forums, translating complexity into clear risk narratives.

  • Building positive relationships across all three lines of defence, helping to mature risk culture and improve the effectiveness of risk management in practice.

  • Contributing to the broader D&A, Operations and Group Risk teams, shaping thinking and supporting the evolution of strategic risk coverage.

You’ll bring

  • Significant experience in non‑financial risk management within matrix or regulated environments.

  • Strong understanding of commercial and operational processes, such as order management, billing, customer operations, process hand‑offs and execution risk. An understanding of sales or legal teams and processes would be desirable.

  • Track record of operating effectively in ambiguous, evolving environments, using judgement and experience, not just frameworks.

  • Credibility and confidence to influence and challenge senior leaders, constructively navigating tension between commercial objectives, customer outcomes and risk appetite.

  • Experience supporting large‑scale change, transformation or automation initiatives, identifying execution and control risks early.

  • Strong ability to translate complicated operational realities into clear, strategic risk language, distilling issues into what truly matters for decision‑makers.

  • Excellent communication skills, actively building trust, maintaining independence and partnering effectively across functions.

  • Good judgement, curiosity and resilience, with the confidence to take positions on difficult issues and adapt as circumstances evolve.

  • A growth mindset, with experience mentoring others, crafting team thinking and contributing beyond an individual portfolio.
