The Technology Chief Controls Office (TCCO) team is a Line 1 risk team responsible for supporting the Technology division’s maturity in managing risk within appetite and its adherence to the group’s risk management framework.

The Technology division is responsible for the world leading application of technology across every aspect of CommBank, from innovative product platforms for our customers to essential tools within our business.

Do work that matters:

The role will support the international Institutional Banking & Markets (IB&M) business in the delivery of their outcomes within an effective risk culture. We work closely with the business to deliver insights to enable effective decision making and provide assurance over controls. You will act as a trusted advisor to executive management in branch for strategic planning, emerging risks and risk maturity.

You will be expected to perform the following tasks in a manner consistent with CBA's Values and People Capabilities:

  • Maintain and embed the Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF);
  • Advise on and coordinate risk-related strategic technology change initiatives;
  • Assist your domain to appropriately manage risk profiles, whilst ensuring the control environment is maintained;
  • Provide in-branch support for local management in effectively managing Technology Risk and Third Party Risk;
  • Ensure new risks or changes to risks arising out of the domains are clearly articulated and documented, understood by domain leads / stakeholders and approved / risk accepted at the appropriate level;
  • Uplift and maintain capability across Technology more broadly, including Risk Culture i.e. planning, coaching, remediating, uplifting risk management processes;
  • Conduct root cause analysis, ensure action plans are appropriate and target dates are met;
  • Assist in the management of the bank’s Issues Management Framework, (including audit activity), in line with Group standards.

We're interested in hearing from people who have:

  • At least 5-7 years experience in operational risk management, specifically technology risk. Institutional banking experience (in an international context) including Lending, Global/Traded Markets and Payments products;
  • Excellent understanding of risk management frameworks (and relevant certifications e.g. Basel II, GS007, AS3402, COBIT, ISO2700x);
  • Understanding of ITIL Service Management processes;
  • Strong understanding of governance and knowledge of FSA/PRA regulatory environment;
  • CA or CPA degree (or any relevant tertiary qualifications in finance or risk management) preferred;
  • Influencing and consulting skills, the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to think critically and analytically and use data driven insights to solve problems.
