About the role and the team

The Tax Data Solutions team is responsible for handling sophisticated tax and compliance initiatives, delivering business insights and high impact analyses to the Tax function in eBay, automate manual processes for operational efficiencies using AI and ML. The team addresses strategic and operational questions facing the business including Initiatives management, process automations, business sizing and impact measurement, and data science solutions.

The role involves project management of sophisticated cross functional initiatives and is data and analytically intensive. Successful candidates will exhibit a strong project management skill to navigate cross-functions and enable swift decision-making. They will also hold a strategic perspective, sound business judgment and a collaborative working style. They will possess strong intellectual curiosity, and a passion for achieving practical business impact.

What You will Accomplish

  • Project Manage complex initiatives, drive decision making and communicate to team members

  • Collaborate closely with other business functions like Customer Services, Legal, Finance teams and Product teams to ensure effective project implementation as well as bringing insight to the risks and dependencies

  • Protect ebay of financial or non-financial risks by ensuring compliance initiatives are accurately prioritised, implemented and supervised

  • Work with Product on project prioritisations using business impact

  • Closely supervise product solutions during launch and post launch

  • Establish process for change management during scope changes or product bugs

  • Ability to take timely action during an unexpected product bug or a high priority issue that could have significant customer facing impact or risk to ebay. Might require flexibility in working hours during that time to ensure alignment with teams based in different time zones w.r.t the urgency of the situation

  • Build close partnership with the business unit to Identify and Explore areas of impactful analytics and operational opportunities to help drive Operational efficiencies and Cost Reduction

  • Lead a team of data and business analysts

  • Promote a self-serve analytics culture for the organization by educating partners on key reports, data, and interpretation best practices.

  • Recruiting, developing and supervising direct and possibly indirect reports

What You will bring:

  • Project management experience in large organizations

  • Experienced in scrum processes

  • Intellectual curiosity, passion for problem-solving, and comfort with ambiguity

  • Experience in technical skills like SQL or Python is good to have, even if not hand-on currently

  • A consistent track record of end-to-end analytics - problem definition, collating the required information, analyzing the results, synthesizing and communicating a compelling argument and influencing partners to act

  • Experienced in big data

  • Agile experience

  • Ability to translate commercial requirements into software solutions

  • Capable to work independently while acting as part of a distributed team

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability in Data and Project management
