Lead Data Scientist

We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Data Science Lead to join our team. This is a senior-level, management-focused role that requires not only deep technical expertise in data science and machine learning, but also strong leadership capabilities and a strategic mindset.

As the Data Science Lead, you will be responsible for driving the data science strategy across the organization. You will work closely with business stakeholders to identify opportunities where data-driven solutions can create value.

Your role will be pivotal in bridging the gap between technical teams and business units, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and maximizing the impact of data initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple data science projects from start to finish – handle communications with stakeholders, design the approach, develop or/and oversee development of the models and work closely with machine learning engineers to deploy the code in production
  • Lead and mentor a team of data scientists, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture
  • Define and execute the data science roadmap in alignment with business priorities
  • Act as a strategic partner to senior business leaders, translating business needs into data science opportunities
  • Oversee the development and deployment of advanced analytics, machine learning models, and AI solutions
  • Promote best practices in data science, model governance, and ethical AI
  • Communicate complex analytical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and compelling way

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a managerial or leadership role within data science or advanced analytics
  • Demonstrable track record of dealing well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering results in a dynamic environment
  • Strong business acumen and ability to influence decision-making at the executive level
  • Expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, and data engineering
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in both Italian and English is mandatory
