Purpose:
The Clinical Trial Learning & Training (CTL&T) organization develops and implements training strategy and design for clinical trial training and GCO functional role-based global onboarding programs. This includes determining training needs, developing, and implementing strategic learning initiatives, and leveraging resources to deploy the training plan. CTLT delivers impactful learning and training programs that address gaps and build capabilities to meet future needs while ensuring compliance with relevant Regulations, Standards, and Good Clinical Practice. The organization aims to enhance the effectiveness of learning for those conducting clinical trial activities, improve site engagement/satisfaction and enhance preparedness of GCO roles that support portfolio services.
The Senior Manager is responsible for deploying organizational training strategy and delivery across clinical trial and role-based training programs. This includes oversight of content development and processes, along with leading projects to bring best-in-class training across the globe meeting the needs of the trainees and the business. The Senior Manager will engage with key stakeholders, vendors, and lead teams/peers responsible for training creation, facilitation, and delivery. This role will partner with team members to align training strategy, delivery, and operations for study specific training as well as to support portfolio services.
You will be responsible for:
Training and Knowledge Management
- Understands intended training roles and competencies to define necessary training strategy. End users are both internal and external facing.
- Collaborates with the Director, GCO Learning & Training to enhance the organizational strategy for effective design, development, deployment, and administration of training programs that support internal business objectives by utilizing advanced learning design/development techniques and tools of adult learning theory.
- Keeps abreast of training and development research within/out of industry, new materials, methodologies. Sets expectations for creative and effective training modalities as the norm for the overall training strategy.
- Oversees departmental initiatives connected to creation, delivery, maintenance, and evaluation of instructor led and eLearning training programs in support of initiatives and educational programs.
- Manage multiple learning projects and potential to manage an internal or external team required to design and deliver learning solutions.
- Benchmarks industry and company technology to leverage/adopt effective modalities for training delivery.
- Evaluates data from training programs and makes recommendations for changes to strategy.
- Executes the organizational strategy that will support continuous learning, knowledge management, success measurements and continuous improvement.
- Understands training strategy, design, delivery and operations and leverages technology and resources across training groups throughout Johnson & Johnson.
- Responsible for the strategy and evaluation of training effectiveness against needs of the business.
- Assists Director, GCO Learning & Training with budget management.
- Contributes to the definition and development of new processes, standards, or operational plans in support of the organizational/ business strategies, with a direct impact on business unit/function overall results for all areas of focus within CTL&T.
Training Point of Contact
- Serves as a key contact for the GCO Organization for training and learning for functional training and for Global Development specific to clinical trial training.
- Consults with senior management to identify training needs and establish effective training solutions.
- Collaborates with local and central business partners to support inspections and office audits as needed for GCO training insights.

Qualifications / Requirements:
Education:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree is required
- Advanced degree is preferred
Required:
- Minimum of 8-10 years of previous pharmaceutical or related industry experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of business experience working in education and/or design and development role
- Knowledge of the overall drug development process
- Well-developed skills and knowledge of core business processes and practices (i.e., SOPs and Systems governing clinical research activities)
- Ability to translate data into information and strategies into executable action plans improving the business
- Ability to motivate professional colleagues and stakeholders
- Ability to independently plan, organize, coordinate, manage and execute assigned tasks
- Subject matter expert and proven application of adult learning principles & practices, and instructional design for various modalities
- Extensive knowledge of current instructional theories and principles applicable to both online and instructor-led learning programs
- Highly effective personal leadership skills with demonstrated competency interfacing with all levels of the organization including senior leaders
- Experience in R&D process requirements to successfully drive GCO Compliance productivity, strategy optimization, process improvements and efficiencies including optimal development and management of training content, approaches, and delivery
- Organizational change management and/or large project change management experience
- Experience in managing projects, teams and/or extensive experience on global projects
- Familiarity with content authoring tools and software, such as Articulate 360, Camtasia, MS Office.
- Ability to travel 10% of the time, defined by business needs
