This Finance Manager role sits within our API Business Finance & Control function. Business Finance & Control plays a key role in reporting our financial performance and supporting decision making at a senior level, highlighting key financial issues and risks to be considered, and opportunities to accelerate our growth and strength in the market.

This role is hybrid by design, coupling management of an Accounting & Control team, and senior contributor work in support of BU financial planning & analysis. You will drive topline and margin growth for the company in support of our ambitious targets whilst delivering a robust, well-controlled financial reporting environment. You’ll lead with an emphasis on operational and process improvements, and build strong partnerships with our IT, Product, Commercial, & BI teams realise our full potential.

Your key responsibilities:Our People

  • Manage the API Business Controller team; including direct reports and others through a matrix structure where they support the Control function
  • Build a team culture of continuous coaching and development, ensuring the team members are equipped for strong performance and to deputise for others as opportunities arise
  • Support trainee members of the team through their examinations, ensuring adequate experience rotation to develop well rounded finance and accounting professionals

Accounting, Control & Financial Reporting

  • Overseeing all BU API Revenue Reporting and related Balance Sheet accounts, including for Group, external analysts, and regulatory and compliance purposes
  • Oversight of reported GM, analysis and insights, and ensuring reporting performance reflects up to date business activities
  • Partner with and support across our API BF&C team on Product P&L reporting
  • Responsible for the Revenue and GM risk and opportunity register for the BU, reconciling to reported actuals and supporting forecasts
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure adequate design of controls, ensuring integrity of reported financials

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • ⁠Responsible for maintaining and reconciling the Wave transformation system for financial impacts
  • Support forecasting cycles with customer and product performance analysis, including ownership for portions of the cycle
  • Provide our team with relevant and timely information to enable us to assess performance against the company’s strategy and objectives
  • Support the business and commercial teams to develop robust business cases for strategic initiatives and areas of business and product development
  • Analyse competitor and market financial information to provide insight to assist with decision making

Transformation, Process Improvement & Business Performance Support

  • Partner with the BI & Commercial teams to continuously improve internal management information, including the integrity of financial data within BI systems
  • ⁠Partner with IT & Product BSS to drive transformation of OTC & Accounting processes, with an emphasis on automation and scalable solutions
  • Continuously assess and take opportunities to streamline and simplify the accounting and reporting cycles

What you'll bring

  • Great problem solving skills and ability to prioritise and communicate effectively
  • Professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), supported by a Degree level education or entry level accounting qualification (AAT route)
  • 5+ years PQE and track record of driving growth and supporting transformation in a Finance & Accounting role
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and business partnering at all levels
  • Strong commercial acumen and a real aptitude for working with numbers
  • Experience of using BI systems, such as Tableau or Power BI, and high volumes of financial data
  • Highly proficient with spreadsheets, Google Suite, and data analysis
  • Excellent analytical skills, with ability to think independently, critically and draw conclusions
  • Sense of humour and a can do attitude

And ideally

  • Experience in Telco, or similar complex high volume transaction businesses
  • Experience using ERPs such as Oracle Fusion (preferred), NetSuite or SAP
