Role Summary and Impact
The Management Accountants within WPP Media are responsible for supporting the Month-End/quarter and year-end processes, ensuring deadlines within their areas are met and work is accurate; maintaining efficient control processes and supporting process improvement where possible. This role will sit within the cost function and will assist with all reporting to WPP (P&L and Balance Sheet) and internal Management information.
Responsibilities
Month end Process / Year End & variance Analysis
- Support in all Month-end, Quarter-end, Year-end processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting of P&Ls and Balance Sheets. Including creating and posting journals for your areas.
- Preparation of Flash and Actual BFC submissions to be sent over to Finance Plus in ample time to load.
- Preparation of internal P&L commentary for your areas within threshold prior to BFC submission (CTB21) for review.
- Preparation of internal Balance Sheet commentary for your areas within threshold prior to BFC submission (CTB20) for review.
- Prepare WD9 and 20th of the month SOX controls allocated for review by the FC.
- Assist in the improvement of SOX controls and Balance Sheet reconciliations, ensuring unreconciled items are reviewed monthly / resolved.
- Review the Cost Analysis and calculate the necessary accruals using IFRS principles. Prepare and post the journals accordingly.
- Assist the FC with PWC External Audit & EY internal SOX audit, checking requests regularly for those assigned to you.
- Ensuring SOX controls are remediated and updated in Impero.
- Liaise with Finance Plus to resolve any reporting queries when loading the P&L / Balance Sheet.
- Ad hoc projects as directed by Financial Controller, EMEA, WPP Media wider business.
- Continuously reviewing current processes and making improvements to allow better control or improved efficiencies in the department.
- Work closely and train the Management Accountants within the team, whilst supporting with any queries they have
Business Partnering
- Business partnering through engagement with business on a regular basis including Microsoft Teams/face-to-face meetings
- Adding value to operational teams through analysis, reporting etc.
- Working with FP&A team during forecasting cycles.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Fully qualified accountant or equivalent (eg: CIMA, ACA, ACCA) MIN 3+ years post qualification.
- Intermediate to advanced level of Excel (Knowledge of SumIFs, Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP is essential)
- Organised with good attention to detail
- Quick to learn and adaptable to changing work allocation. Able to prioritise workload to meet challenging deadlines
- Strong analytical & reconciliation skills
- Strong communication and relationship building skills
- Enthusiastic with a can do attitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Confidence to challenge current processes
Desirable
- Experience working with DDS / Media Ocean
- Experience working with Cartesis / BFC
- Media industry experience
- Experience working with SOX Controls
