As Senior Legal Manager for Claims and insurance, you’ll be responsible for placement and management of the Asda Group’s insurance programme alongside the claims handling capabilities for a number of our insurance lines.

It’s a fast paced, high volume environment with a strong team ethic where everyone works towards the same shared goals.  This is a unique role with extremely diverse day to day responsibilities and project work.  As Senior Manager, you have a tangible contribution to make not only directly to our claims management approach, but also to the processes and risks within the wider business.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Management of the Group insurance programme including renewals, working closely with internal stakeholders, brokers and insurers.

  • Ensuring business requirements are translated into policies.

  • Advising stakeholders on insurance requirements for projects and contracts.

  • Oversight of Asda’s claims handling strategies and performance including large and complex loss claims across multiple policy lines.

  • Advising the business on risk exposure and driving change to improve Asda’s risk portfolio.

  • Budget and planning accountability for the group programme.

  • Manage and develop effective partnerships with external providers and suppliers across both our claims and insurance lines.

  • Ensure effective delivery against KRAs and strategy.

  • Provide data insights to stakeholders to support in the identification and management of risk.

About you:

  • Lends itself well to individuals with more diverse backgrounds and exposure to insurance, claims handling and litigation.

  • Experience of handling corporate insurance programmes including non-conventional.

  • Experience of defendant volume claims handling environments and personal injury litigation.

  • In-house corporate insurance experience would be preferable although not essential.

  • Great commercial acumen and comfortable and confident in adapting to and providing advice in a diverse organisation on both claims, insurance and risk management.

  • Be confident in breaking down complex issues to various audiences of all levels.

  • Strong communication, organisation and time management skills with the ability to be able to prioritise multiple and conflicting workloads.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence at all levels and cross functionally.

  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.

  • Strong numerical ability.

  • Attention to detail, accuracy and ability to thrive under pressure whilst maintaining good planning and prioritisation are absolute requirements.

Everything you'll love

To ensure we balance moments where we know we need to collaborate together and the need for flexibility, Asda has a hybrid way of working with a minimum 3 days a week in one of our Home Offices. Over and above this, each area of Asda may have additional requirements which may require spending more days in the office, visiting suppliers, stores or depots.

You will also get an excellent benefits package including:

  • Discretionary company bonus

  • Company pension up 1.5 times colleagues' contribution (Max 15%)

  • Company Car allowance of £8000

  • 15% colleague discount in store and online

  • Free access to wellbeing services such as Stream, 24/7 virtual GP, counselling, health and dental cash plans and a 24/7 employee assistance helpline, alongside discounts across a range of services and activities, from airport parking, enhanced to theme parks and cinemas.

  • Asda Allies Inclusion Networks – helping colleagues to make sure everybody is included and that our differences are recognised and celebrated

  • Excellent parental leave policies, including maternity & adoption leave, paternity leave, shared parental leave, neonatal care leave, and support for those doing fertility treatments.

We want all colleagues to be able to bring their best and true selves to work, every day. Simply put, we want our colleagues to be Proud to be Asda and proud to be themselves
