Position Title: Senior Counsel

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Counsel to join our dynamic legal team. The successful candidate will be a pivotal member of the legal department, providing expert legal guidance and support across all business lines of the company. This role requires a seasoned legal professional with a strong background in corporate and commercial law, exceptional business acumen, and the ability to navigate complex legal landscapes. The Senior Counsel will work closely with senior leadership and various business units to mitigate risk, ensure compliance, and contribute to the company's overall success.
Key Responsibilities:
Legal & Strategic Counsel: Provide authoritative and strategic legal advice to senior management and business teams on a wide range of legal matters, including corporate governance, regulatory compliance, complex commercial transactions, and dispute resolution.
Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate a high volume of complex commercial agreements, such as service agreements, client contracts, vendor agreements, and technology licenses.
Real Estate Transactions: Advise on a variety of real estate transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, leasing, and development projects This includes drafting and negotiating relevant documentation and managing due diligence.
Litigation and Risk Management: Manage and strategically direct litigation and other contentious matters, coordinating with external counsel as necessary. Identify, analyse, and advise on legal risks and strategies for mitigation.
Compliance: Ensure the company's compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. This involves staying abreast of legislative changes and proactively advising the business on necessary updates to policies and procedures.
Corporate Governance: Assist in corporate governance matters and support board-related activities.
Team Leadership & Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior lawyers and legal staff, fostering their professional development.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including finance, human resources, and operations, to support business objectives and ensure legal alignment.
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience: A minimum of 8-10 years of legal experience, preferably with a combination of training in a law firm and in-house experience in a corporate legal department.
Education: Qualified solicitor or barrister.
Legal Expertise: Proven expertise in corporate and commercial law is essential. Significant experience in real estate law, including commercial property transactions, is highly desirable.
Skills:
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a high degree of attention to detail.
Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to provide sound, business-focused legal advice.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical judgment.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to utilise the in house AI tool
Desired Attributes:
Experience within the commercial real estate services industry is a significant advantage.
