Your new role: Senior Legal Counsel - Audio & Commercial Legal

This is an exciting role in Global’s Audio & Commercial Legal Team. You will be the go-to legal advisor for matters relating to the on-boarding of Global’s owned and operated podcasts, high profile presenter engagements, and podcast content monetisation via Global’s industry leading DAX business, playing a key role in helping Global deliver on its strategic objectives.

As a Senior Legal Counsel at Global, you will:

Key Responsibilities

  • Podcast & Presenter Agreements (60%): Lead legal negotiations, draft and provide advice on contracts with podcast talent, podcast production companies, and radio show presenters (along with navigating related issues and disputes!).

  • Monetisation & Distribution (25%): Draft and advise on commercial deals for the monetisation of Global’s own/third party podcasts through Global’s DAX platform and other online streaming platforms, digital content distribution and licensing agreements.

  • General Commercial Legal Support (15%): Support the broader Audio & Commercial Legal Team across supplier, sponsorship, IP, brand and other commercial agreements; manage disputes; develop legal templates; and mentor junior legal colleagues.

What You’ll Love About This Role

1.     Think Big: Work with some of the UK’s most prominent podcast and presenter talent, influencing high-profile deals that reach millions.

2.     Own It: Act as the go-to legal expert for Global’s podcast, talent, and monetisation strategy — leading complex contracts from concept to close.

3.     Keep it Simple: Deliver commercially savvy, clear legal advice to stakeholders across Global.

4.     Better Together: Collaborate with senior leadership in Podcasting, Broadcasting & Content, and DAX — becoming a trusted advisor in key business decisions.

What Success Looks Like

In your first few months, you’ll have:

  • Taken the legal lead on new podcast agreements and high-profile presenter deals.

  • Supported DAX’s commercial partnerships with timely, strategic legal advice.

  • Refined existing contract templates and policies to support growth and compliance.

  • Gained trust as a key legal business partner.

What You’ll Need

  • Legal Expertise: 8+ years PQE as a solicitor with experience in podcasting, media, talent, IP, digital content distribution, advertising and commercial agreements. Experience in music licensing, technology and digital agreements is preferable, but not essential.

  • Business Acumen: A commercial mindset with deep understanding of media, entertainment, and digital advertising industries.

  • Influence & Clarity: Confidence to advise senior stakeholders with clear, pragmatic, and collaborative guidance.

  • Drive & Versatility: Ability to work in a fast paced environment, juggle complex, manage priorities, and step into unfamiliar legal territory when needed.
