Senior Legal Counsel, Private Markets Funds and JV’s

This is a great job for a lawyer with previous Private Markets experience to join one of Europe’s leading Private Markets platforms.

A bit about the job:

Acting as a senior legal adviser within the Aviva Investors legal team, providing a first class legal service to the Aviva Investors Private Markets business in relation to all Private Markets funds (real estate, infrastructure, debt) and corporate real estate transactions and joint ventures, the person in this role will support a key strategic business function and act as a support and control to that business, enabling progress towards its strategic objectives.  The role will support around a variety of tasks that include fund creation and structuring, strategic fund outsourcing projects and joint ventures.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • A solicitor, barrister or qualified equivalent.  As a guideline we would expect at least 5 years post qualification experience but will consider those outside of this range with the right skills and experience.

  • Strong knowledge of alternative investment and other unregulated funds in the Private Markets space (real estate, infrastructure, debt) as well as commonly used real estate investment and fund structures.  Experience in both UK and Luxembourg fund structures, plus ideally Jersey.

  • This will include understanding of common structures for acquisitions and funds flow in a tax efficient manner.  Knowledge of relevant regulatory environment and market standard approaches also required.

  • Technical expert in areas of law relevant to unauthorised fund structures and the operator of those funds, including AIFMD.

  • Developing experience and expertise in ESG related regulatory developments applicable to funds such as the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation.
