We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our International Legal team on a fixed-term basis to provide maternity cover for one year. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with international laws, providing general commercial legal support, and drafting and negotiating commercial agreements. This role is critical in supporting the company’s legal function and ensuring that all business activities adhere to applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

We offer flexible and remote working; however, you must reside in Ireland or the UK.
What you will do

  • Drive and support high-profile and high-impact projects involving legal analysis and compliance with cross-functional stakeholders across the Ancestry business.

  • Ensure compliance with international laws and regulations applicable to the company’s operations.

  • Monitor, interpret and prioritise changes in international legal and regulatory frameworks, advising the business on potential impacts and leading the adoption of laws across our products and business, including legal analysis for international expansion.

  • Work closely with the product team to ensure delivery of product features in compliance with relevant laws.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a diverse range of commercial agreements.

  • Advise on general commercial legal matters and risk management

  • Work closely with external legal advisors when necessary to ensure comprehensive legal support.

Who you are

  • You are a solicitor or barrister (qualified to practice law in at least one European jurisdiction or the UK).

  • You have a minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in commercial law, preferably in an in-house legal team or a reputable law firm.

  • You have a strong understanding of consumer facing international laws and regulations.

  • You have experience in product counseling role, building and supporting products.

  • You have demonstrated experience in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.

  • You have the ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical business-oriented solutions.

  • Experience in regulatory compliance and risk management is a plus.

This is a full time, fixed-term role with full benefits, including 25 days paid time off, completion bonus, remote working, pension, health and dental insurance. We have offices in both Dublin and London, but our working location policy is fully flexible.
