We are a full service in-house Legal, Ethics and Compliance function, providing advice on strategic projects across all business areas, whilst developing our role as an integrated partner within the business.


LONDON

Our London office is located in Old Street, London’s tech hub, and is home to a wide range of teams. Our open space is ideal for collaborative work and sharing ideas. We also have a large outdoor terrace, which is the perfect spot to have a team lunch or host events.


THE ROLE

The Legal, Ethics and Compliance Team at Farfetch is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel (IP, Commercial) reporting to the Senior Head of Legal. You will enjoy an extremely broad role, delivering high quality legal advice across multiple operational territories in conjunction with our wider international Legal, Ethics and Compliance Team sitting in Porto, Shanghai and Milan.

Acting as a true business partner, this role requires someone who is hands on and commercially minded, with a strong professional ethic and the energy, interest and training to pursue a broad array of contentious and non-contentious IP and commercial matters. The role has great potential for the right candidate to quickly grow their level of experience, responsibility and autonomy.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Work with IP colleagues on brand protection matters across the globe.
  • Support IP colleagues with trade mark and (where relevant) design clearance work.
  • Support the Senior Head of Legal with a range of contentious work, including contract disputes, debt claims, and material, complex IP litigation in jurisdictions across the globe..
  • Autonomously lead on the resolution of all customer-related disputes, including customer fraud claims and small claims litigation.
  • Advise the broader Legal Ethics and Compliance team on IP matters relating to largescale, strategic commercial projects and corporate matters (including M&A).
  • Design and deliver IP and brand protection training and education to upskill business colleagues and embed brand protection thinking into the FARFETCH Group.
  • Work autonomously with business colleagues in jurisdictions around the world, including the US, UAE, Portugal and Italy, supporting on international projects including contract negotiations and local compliance matters.
  • Draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including NDAs, service agreements and licensing agreements, particularly in a marketing / adtech context.
  • Advise on a range of commercial matters, including in relation to marketing / advertising, IP usage, content and production, media regulation and consumer protection.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Qualified lawyer with experience typically gained over 4+ years of PQE
  • Have excellent training; prior in-house experience would be highly beneficial.
  • Have litigation and/or brand protection experience, ideally from a multi-brand background.
  • Be an experienced commercial negotiator, ideally in a marketing or content context.
  • Have a global outlook and experience of working in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Proven ability to deliver strategic commercial pragmatic solutions and concise advice.
  • Be self-sufficient, forward thinking, innovative and agile.
  • Have a strong work ethic and excellent communication, negotiating and drafting skills.
  • Be passionate about fast moving consumer-led businesses.
