The Purpose:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel in London with significant in-house experience and expertise in commercial law and contractual negotiations. As part of the PPRO legal team, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders, particularly the commercial and customer-facing departments, and to the Commercial Lead Counsel, located in London.
You will support our growing payments business with a key focus on commercial matters arising worldwide. Your work will span across multiple legal domains, from contract and corporate law matters to payments and regulation. You will work closely with multiple stakeholders across the PPRO group, understanding complex functions and demonstrating a willingness to learn about all areas of the business.
Your impact in this role:
- Reviewing a range of commercial agreements, including customer contracts for regulated payment services , supplier contracts and software contracts.
- Advising on inter-company arrangements, drafting outsourcing agreements, binding corporate rules, and other inter-company commercial agreements.
- Improving existing legal processes at PPRO and ensuring the implementation of guidelines and policies relating to contract management.
- Handling customer, supplier, and partnership contracts in close contact with stakeholders in the sales, customer delivery, and supply chain teams.
- Advising the business on ad hoc legal queries as required, for example employment, intellectual property, corporate law matters and disputes.
- Liaising with external counsel to obtain advice on various matters and conveying this back to the broader business in English language and a concise format.
What would make you a great fit:
- Be a qualified lawyer, preferably with experience in the financial services, payments or technology sector.
- 5+ years PQE as legal counsel, with a focus on commercial drafting and negotiation.
- Possess excellent working proficiency in English.
- Have current knowledge of contract, data protection, and business laws.
- Demonstrate strong contractual drafting and analytical skills, combined with pragmatism and business sense.
- Be able to translate complex legal or factual issues into plain language communications.
- Have a strong sense of ownership and drive to push complex legal matters forward.
- Work effectively with cross-functional and remote teams in a collaborative manner and be able to perform and deliver results under pressure.
- Have an open, flexible, and team-oriented personality. Your self-motivation and excellent communication skills enable you to contribute to the team's success.
