Job Description:
We Dream. We Do. We Deliver.
At Merkle, a dentsu company, we power the experience economy. Whether we’re building the next great app, running CRM at scale for global brands, delivering technology architectures that support millions of users, or providing world-class data, identity, and insights solutions, it’s all in the name of crafting experiences that set brands apart from the competition. Backed by dentsu's legacy of innovation and creativity originating in Japan, we’ve spent over 35 years helping brands build loyalty, drive growth, and connect meaningfully with their audiences.
We’ve been named a global “Leader” by top industry analyst firms in categories as wide-ranging as digital transformation and commerce, experience design, engineering and technology integration, digital marketing, data science, CRM and loyalty, and customer data management.
As a Senior Integration Architect, you will lead the end-to-end design and delivery of enterprise integration solutions that connect customer data, platforms, and digital experiences across complex ecosystems.
You’ll define integration patterns, platform selection, API strategies, and reference architectures, guide delivery teams, and ensure standards for security, scalability, performance, and governance. You’ll partner closely with cross functional teams (solution architects, data engineers, automation engineers, platform SMEs, project managers) and play a visible role in presales, estimation, and Road mapping.
Key Responsibilities:
Architecture & Design
Own the integration architecture across programs, design canonical data models, API led connectivity (experience/process/system APIs), messaging/eventing, and data movement (ETL/ELT) across cloud and on prem platforms.
Produce and maintain architecture artifacts (high level designs, sequence diagrams, data flow maps, interface specifications, nonfunctional requirements) and ensure traceability to business outcomes.
Define and enforce best practices/standards for integration, including security (OAuth/JWT), resilience, observability, and performance, review solutions for compliance with enterprise principles.
Governance & Documentation
Establish integration standards (API design conventions, event schemas, error handling, versioning, and documentation).
Ensure all integrations are documented, up to date, and accessible.
Enablement & Presales
Contribute to presales and RFPs—solutioning, effort estimation, scope assumptions, and architecture roadmaps.
Present solution options and tradeoffs to executive stakeholders.
Mentor and coach engineers and junior architects.
Required Qualifications
10+ years in IT with 6+ years focused on integration architecture (enterprise integration patterns, APIs/microservices, messaging, ETL/ELT).
Proven experience designing and delivering API led architectures and integrations across CRM/ERP, CDPs, data platforms, and modern CMS/composable stacks.
Hands on with one or more iPaaS/integration platforms (e.g., MuleSoft, Workato, Azure Integration Services, Boomi) and cloud services (AWS/Azure/GCP) for integration workloads.
Strong knowledge of security (OAuth2), observability (logging, tracing, metrics), and nonfunctional requirements (scalability, performance).
Proficiency in API design (REST/GraphQL), specs (RAML/OpenAPI), and data transformations (DataWeave/JSON/CSV/XML).
Excellent communication skills—able to present architectures, facilitate decisions, and lead cross functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications: MuleSoft (Architecture/Developer), Azure Integration Architect, Workato Enterprise Automation, Boomi Architect.
Experience integrating Salesforce (Sales/Service/Experience Cloud).
Exposure to event driven architectures (Kafka/EventBridge), GraphQL federation, and composable platforms.
