We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Credit Sector Specialist to join our HY team in Europe. This Director-level position offers the opportunity to generate market commentary and trade ideas on issuers and securities, directly contributing to the team's P&L. You will collaborate closely with the Trading team, leveraging your expertise to identify and capitalize on market opportunities while developing and maintaining client relationships.

What you will do will be varied day to day, but the key drivers for the role are:

  • Lead coverage, analysis, and commentary on HY rated issuers/securities within your assigned area, generating market commentary, trade ideas, and internal content to inform sales/trading on market-moving news and views.

  • Monitor desk risk positions, generate trade ideas, and identify P&L opportunities.

  • Provide regular updates to sales/trading on market news and sector views through participation in weekly sales meetings and distribution of written commentary.

  • Review legal documentation related to capital instruments and maintain a strong understanding of relevant industry sectors.

  • Develop financial models, including scenario analyses and securities valuations, considering potential restructuring scenarios and capital structures.

  • Conduct comprehensive company due diligence, including assessments of new issuances, and represent Citi at company/industry presentations.

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and periodic travel, while adhering to Citi's Code of Conduct and relevant risk and control frameworks.

  • Team management and mentoring responsibilities

What we will need from you:

  • Proven experience in a similar role, demonstrating a deep understanding of credit trading and credit fundamentals.

  • Strong Excel/financial modelling skills, experience with relative value analysis, bond market technical, and financial statement analysis.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced trading environment, working independently with limited direction and adapting quickly to changing market conditions.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
