Summary of the role:
We are seeking an experienced tax professional to lead YouGov’s global tax function, with responsibility across UK corporate tax, international tax compliance, transfer pricing, and tax governance.
This is a high-impact role focused on building and strengthening the Group’s tax framework, enhancing controls, and progressively bringing key activities in-house. You will work closely with Finance, Legal, and senior stakeholders globally, while managing external advisors and a geographically dispersed team.
Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll do (not all of it, just the important stuff):
Tax Governance & Controls:
- Design and implement the Group’s tax governance framework, policies, and controls
- Ensure compliance with UK, European, and international regulations (including SAO, CCO, BEPS, CFC, OECD guidelines)
- Strengthen tax processes, documentation, and internal controls across the Group
- Support Group-level reporting, including uncertain tax positions
UK Corporate Tax:
- Lead UK corporation tax compliance, including computations, filings, and payments, with a focus on bringing activities in-house
- Manage UK tax provisions and support statutory and group reporting
- Act as the primary contact for HMRC, managing enquiries and correspondence
- Lead the R&D tax claim process
Global Tax Oversight:
- Oversee corporate tax compliance across US, Europe, and APAC regions
- Ensure consistent application of Group tax policies across jurisdictions
- Monitor global tax developments and assess business impact
- Support local teams on tax issues and filings where required
Tax Accounting & Reporting:
- Lead external tax reporting for half-year and year-end
- Develop in-house capability to reduce reliance on external advisors
- Manage monthly tax accounting, including reconciliations, ERP postings, and reporting
- Provide guidance on tax implications of intercompany transactions
- Manage relationships with auditors and advisors
Transfer Pricing:
- Own and enhance transfer pricing policies and processes
- Ensure compliance and alignment with business operations
- Oversee preparation and maintenance of transfer pricing documentation
Team & Stakeholder Leadership:
- Lead and develop a global tax team
- Partner effectively with Finance, Legal, and other internal stakeholders
- Manage external advisors, driving efficiency and value for money
- Reduce reliance on external providers by building internal capability
What you’ll need to get an interview:
- Strong UK corporate tax experience within a multinational organisation
- Proven expertise in transfer pricing, including policy design and documentation
- Experience managing tax operations in a complex, international environment
- Strong knowledge of global tax regulations and IFRS tax requirements
- Working knowledge of VAT, employment taxes, and R&D tax regimes
- Experience managing HMRC relationships and enquiries
- ACA, CTA, or equivalent professional qualification (preferred)
