Hayfin is seeking a senior funds lawyer to join its Funds Legal team, supporting the firm’s capital formation strategy across its private markets platforms.

This is a senior, hands-on role at the centre of Hayfin’s fundraising activity. You will work closely with Partner Solutions, investment teams and platform functions (Risk, Finance, Operations and Compliance) to deliver efficient, commercially aligned fundraisings across commingled funds, SMAs and bespoke structures.

The role combines technical fund formation expertise with strong commercial judgement and stakeholder influence. You will help shape house positions, negotiate key fund terms and contribute to product development as Hayfin continues to scale across strategies and jurisdictions.

Reporting to the Group General Counsel, with a dotted line to a Co-Head of Partner Solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the legal aspects of fund formation and capital raising initiatives (commingled funds, SMAs and related structures).
  • Act as a core legal partner to Partner Solutions throughout the fundraising lifecycle.
  • Negotiate fund documentation, side letters and bespoke investor arrangements with a pragmatic, risk-based approach.
  • Work cross-functionally to embed legal input early in product design and structuring discussions.
  • Manage external counsel effectively, ensuring quality delivery and disciplined spend.
  • Contribute to product development, market horizon-scanning and the evolution of Hayfin’s house positions and playbooks.

Requirements
  • 6–8 years’ PQE with strong private funds / alternative asset fund formation experience (private credit experience advantageous).
  • Trained and/or practised at a leading private funds practice; in-house experience preferred but not essential.
  • Commercially minded, execution-focused and confident in negotiation.
  • Collaborative, pragmatic and comfortable operating in a fast-growing private capital platform.
