About X, the Moonshot Factory
X is a diverse group of inventors and entrepreneurs who build and launch technologies that aim to improve the lives of millions, even billions, of people. Our goal: 10x impact on the world’s most intractable problems, not just 10% improvement. We approach projects that have the aspiration and riskiness of research with the speed and ambition of a startup.
The Team:
We are an early stage geoscience AI team at X with a growing, interdisciplinary portfolio. To prove our path to the moon, we make early contact with the real world through both internal and external partnerships. As a member of the team, you are a self-starter, have a deep passion for problem solving and experimentation and will work on 0-1 AI-based products.
The Role:
As a Product Engineer, you’ll be instrumental in translating cutting-edge multi-modal AI research into real-world products, building full stack front-end and back-end solutions to power production systems and customer prototypes.
How you will make 10x impact:

  • Act like an owner; be fearless in diving deep, asking questions, proposing solutions, establishing consensus and then making things happen.
  • Define front-end and back-end system strategy, build full stack external and internal production systems and pilots.
  • Extensive use of AI for code tooling.
  • Get your hands dirty! Have fun, learn from your teammates and teach them as well!

What you should have:

  • MS/PhD in CS or equivalent practical experience in full stack software development, and 6+ years of professional experience building and releasing production software.
  • We particularly value experience in early-stage or startup environments, where engineers take ownership and drive product development from the ground up.
  • Strong TypeScript, JavaScript proficiency.
  • Expert experience with UI frameworks including modern UI stacks (React, Tailwind, Vite, …)
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms and infrastructure (e.g., Google Cloud Platform).
  • Experience using AI code generation tools.
  • Experience with UI test automation frameworks.
  • Experience leading other engineers in a small team is a strong plus.
  • Experience working with external partners and customers is a strong plus.
