Senior FP&A Manager – Group FP&A

We are seeking an analytical, detail oriented and highly collaborative Senior FP&A Manager to support our group-wide financial planning and performance management for the Group.

This role provides a fantastic opportunity to: understand drivers of group performance and key topics impacting the CFO/ CEO; contribute to and gain an awareness of group-wide performance processes; and gain exposure to Group Functions and Senior Leadership.

Our Group FP&A roles operate in a highly matrixed, global environment and partner closely with senior leadership, divisional finance teams, Group Engineering, Capital, Procurement, Corporate, Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Investor Relations, M&A, Strategy and Transformation.

Reporting directly to the Head of Financial Planning & Forecasting and acting as a Partner to the EVP Group FP&A, the team are accountable for delivering Group- level insight and robust forecasts/ plans for the CEO and CFO to proactively drive performance and support statutory/ governance requirements. Responsibilities of the team span in-year forecasts, Budget, 5YP, Strategic Initiatives, Remuneration performance, Strategic (long-term) and other plans (such as those supporting Statutory Reporting (e.g. TCFD, Viability, Going concern)) - from supporting initial target setting through to identifying interventions to drive performance.

The ideal candidate brings experience navigating the complexity of a large-listed company, including segment reporting, consolidated forecasting, executive-level reporting, and disciplined financial governance, combining strong financial modelling with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and translate complex financial data into clear business recommendations.

What you will be doing 

 Accountabilities of the roles in the team are aligned at Group and/ or Functional and/or business level across the above processes, with agility expected on tasks assigned, specifically covering:

Analysis and Insight – identifying and communicating performance interventions

  • Articulating financial performance in the context of external data and business drivers: including simplifying accounting, commercial arrangements and data to explain performance

  • Identifying performance interventions/ highlighting improvements for a CFO briefing

Reporting – presented to meet stakeholder requirements and support analysis/ control

  • Defining/ creating Group-level reports to meet stakeholder requirements and support plan control activities (including KPIs/ metrics); Ensuring completeness in an ‘agile’/ ambiguous environment

  • Applying thought-leadership in data presentation and consistency with/ improvement of the Group’s Integrated Performance Management framework

  • Producing written reports/ presentations for consideration in/ use in senior reports

  • Driving simplification and insight, including systemisation and ‘actuals’ consistency, influencing through change requests/ change council

Controlling  – integrity and credibility of numbers captured for reporting

  • Monitoring, driving and supporting FP&A teams to comply against process and deliverables; ensuring reports/ analysis/ forecast/ plans/ are robust in the context of group policies, including: Progressing inputs/ submission co-ordination; IPM quality checks

  • Driving the quality and integrity of analysis, forecasts, plans and explanations provided; ensuring consistency with other reports and data, including:

    • Constructively challenging data/ analysis through judgement/ business understanding

    • Data control checks (e.g. group offsets; consistency in group-wide assumptions)

    • Compliance with policy (e.g. NUL)

    • Professional judgement in ensuring data/ analysis released is appropriate/ understood

Process, Data and Governance – defining and driving a well governed, simple process

For Group processes/ modelling assigned:

  • Proactively defining and influencing requirements and deliverables from Group-level and Functional Stakeholders

  • Cascade requirements and assumptions through clear communication of timetables, assumptions/ guidance, instructions and templates- to support data requirements and capture

  • Eliciting key assumptions/ inputs required to deliver the process and outputs

  • Governed and controlled data publication and analysis

Modelling/ Scenarios – additional what-if analysis for impact assessments and reporting

  • Modelling, Scenario and Sensitivity analysis to assess assumption changes and meet reporting requirements (e.g. statutory)

  • Proactive tracking of expected performance arising from business reviews (‘ready reckoner’)

  • Support in target setting (E.g. Guidance; RemCo targets) and ‘Scorecards’ calculations

Other

  • Ad hoc analysis commensurate with the grade/ additional projects to ‘transform’ FP&A

Who we’re looking for

  • Professionally qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or equivalent relevant experience

  • Highly analytical with a curious mindset and detail oriented

  • Impactful Senior Finance leader who can influence across different levels to drive outcomes. Able to build effective working relationships with a diverse range of individuals and teams, managing the interaction between the Divisions, Group Finance, the functional areas

  • Demonstrable business understanding; breadth, judgement and commercial acumen

  • Solid grasp of the Group’s accounting policies, and construct of the financial statements, including sound technical understanding of more complex Group areas (e.g. FX)

  • Strong communication and presentation skills (written, verbal); Able to distil and simplify complex data and information

  • Hands-on knowledge of finance systems (HFM and VBM); Modelling/ advanced excel skills

  • Ability to prioritise and work under minimal supervision

  • Delivery focussed, with ability to set requirements under ambiguity
