We are seeking a self-driven Senior Finance Manager to join our European Finance team based in Winnesh, Wokingham, UK. The role also includes adhoc travel to our site in Austria, to support collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and business needs.

In this role, you will work closely with Austrian and UK R&D, operations, and finance teams, and you will be an integral part of the European Finance organization based in Wokingham, UK. Reporting to the European Finance Director, you will be responsible for the financial accounting of the Austrian and German legal entities, ensuring compliance with both local GAAP and US GAAP across statutory and management accounting.

This position has one direct report and requires close partnership with the European Accounting and FP&A teams, business operations, and the US Corporate Finance team. As part of the European finance leadership, you will play a key role in developing the wider finance team and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the region.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly and annual management reporting cycles for the Austrian and German legal entity ensuring full compliance to US GAAP and accounting policies and collaborating closely with the European Finance team in UK and the US Corporate. 

  • Lead the preparation of annual statutory accounts in accordance with Austrian GAAP (UGB) and German GAAP (HGB) and oversee accurate tax filings including VAT, Corporate income tax and withholding taxes.

  • Maintain a strong control environment ensuring clean balance sheets, effective design and operation of controls and timely compliance with all deadlines.   

  • Support the FP&A team with forecasting and budgeting for both local entities and the wider European business. 

  • Act as the primary point of contact for external partners, auditors, and regulatory authorities, managing audit requests and fostering collaborations across functions.

  • Lead, motivate and develop a high performing European finance team with strong collaboration with the US Corporate team. 

  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, designing and implementing efficient standardised processes to enhance accuracy and effectiveness.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Fully qualified Accountant (CPA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent accounting qualification) with minimum 5 years post qualification experience

  • Comprehensive multi-GAAP expertise, Austrian (UGB) and German (HGB) would be preferable.  Knowledge and experience of local taxation requirements preferable.  US GAAP knowledge desirable.

  • Proven track record in dynamic, global environments with strict compliance to deadlines and controls.  Specific expertise in manufacturing and/or R&D and a strong focus on intercompany processes preferable

  • Excellent communication skills, adept at engaging diverse internal and external stakeholders

  • Advanced proficiency in finance systems and excel.  Experience with Oracle financials preferred but not essential. 

  • German language skills desirable
