What is Flagstone?

Flagstone is many things. An online savings platform, reinventing how individuals, businesses, and charities manage, protect, and grow their cash. A diverse group of people, bound by a collaborative spirit, and shared purpose. And lastly, a thriving, profitable business – where smart people do their best work.

Each definition shares a common thread: our unique culture. It’s our pride and joy. And our competitive advantage.

A feel for our culture:

To revolutionise the savings market, we need to be at our best. But high performance takes more than talent – it takes a culture of kindness, respect, and growth.

That’s why we’re building a diverse, inclusive community, where your voice is heard and valued. Where, with close support and room to develop, you can surpass even your own expectations. And be rewarded for it.

We may not change the world, but we can change the world of financial technology. And all it takes is a winning mix of drive, talent, and empathy. Our culture celebrates all three.

But enough about us. Let’s talk about you.

Does this sound like you?

You’re a Senior Software Engineering Manager with experience of driving impact across multiple teams, who’s excited to forge a new way to save! You apply your technical knowledge to guide strategic decisions, mentor team members, and drive innovation, and you’re adept at taking high-performing teams through their career growth, goal setting, and organisational design.

What you’ll do:

Through partnering with our Principal Engineers and Tribe Leads, you will ensure that we are delivering on our product roadmap, and championing engineering in technical and strategic conversations. You’ll also help shape the future of engineering within our Tribes, by aligning initiatives, influencing outcomes, and driving success across projects.

We’re a Microsoft house, and you will ideally have a background linked to our tech stack with the technical knowledge to provide valuable insights and guidance. Your expertise will help guide our teams in leveraging proven practices whilst driving innovation and growth, and bridging the gap between past and present technologies. This will focus on:

  • People: Building and nurturing high-performing teams through clear objectives and career development. You’ll measure success through retention, mobility, skill growth, and engagement (eNPS).
  • Culture: Fostering an empowering engineering culture by promoting personal development, holistic engineering practices, and a collaborative, growth-oriented environment
  • Goals: Setting team goals aligned with company objectiveskeeping our teams inspired, focused, and on track
  • Delivery: Championing Agile delivery practices and promoting continuous improvement in how we deliver our products.
  • Trust based environment: Continuing to build a culture of trust where everyone feels comfortable sharing ideas, raising concerns, and giving or receiving feedback

What you’ll bring:

  • A track record of managing performance and coaching leaders to succeed
  • Experience recruiting, growing, and managing managers - creating a united, high-performing engineering department
  • Cross-functional collaboration skills, especially with Product teams, bringing others along with your vision
  • Proven ability to drive strategic change at scale in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Experience in designing team structures that empower people and drive results
  • Technical fluency within software engineering, with the expertise to align technical decisions with our tech stack and engineering best practices
  • The ability to lead discussions on distributed systems and cloud-native architectures

How we reward you:

At Flagstone, the benefits extend beyond false gifts like “fruit and snacks”. Instead, we invest in your health, wealth, and professional development. Here’s a selection of our benefits:

  • Private healthcare
  • Life insurance (four times your annual salary)
  • Dental/optical care
  • Matched pension contributions (5%)
  • Income protection
  • Around the World in 90 days (remote working)
