Job Description

VVB Engineering provide Mechanical and Electrical installation services across the UK, operating in a number of different sectors including Rail and Airports. We are currently recruiting a Senior Electrical Engineer to provide engineering support on various projects.


As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be involved in all stages of projects from design to completion. Managing the electrical installations throughout the project lifecycle to ensure successful delivery from an HSE, programme, quality, compliance and commercial perspective.
The position:

·Management, training and mentoring of the electrical design and electrical engineering team

·Developing scope documents for tenders and procurement processes

·Undertaking electrical design and electrical design modelling (up to 11KV level) in line with all current standards

·Liaison with various teams such as CAD, manufacturers and installation teams to determine design and product suitability and ensure correct working methodologies

·Working with the commercial and planning departments to plan designs and track any variances to designs

·Assisting the planning department to plan installation and testing and commission works through providing accurate assessments of forecast works to meet the project programme

·Management of subcontractor works including valuation and contract support with the commercial department, and management of all design registers

·Ensure all formal communication is undertaken and managed and provide engineered solutions to key project problems to satisfy clients expectations, project restrictions and budget considerations

·Keep up to date with all electrical, construction and relevant legislation, law, standards and best practice

·Ensure HSE best practices are always followed and that the design risk assessment is compliant with installation parameters

What we’re looking for:

·HND in Electrical Engineering

·Engineering Council Registration as Technician Engineer, Incorporated Engineer or with a qualification leading to this status (preferably Chartered)

·Registered member of CIBSE or IET or another recognised Engineering Council Institution

·Minimum seven years’ experience within an Electrical Engineering position

·Previous experience working within the infrastructure environment (utilities/civils etc)

·Previous experience of working on low to medium voltage electrical equipment

·Previous use of electrical design packages such as Amtech and design experience using AutoCAD

·Advanced MS Office skills including Excel

·Knowledge of electrical installation and design legislation, standards, design processes, and associated compliance

·Flexible approach an ability to work unsociable hours

·Good people management and leadership skills

·Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise at all levels on technical matters
